Ok, so we've just been through probably the two most emotional Ranger games in the last 20 years. I'm sure, like myself, most of you have come here recently for emotional support and to gain comfort from sharing this experience with fellow Ranger fans. I wanted to start a thread where we can come together for the specific purpose of supporting each other through positivity and positive regard. There's a lot of negativity on this board, understandably so given recent events and the tendency of Ranger fans to vent by assigning blame to players/refs/whoever. That's ok too. I just wanted to create a space that we can turn to for more positive thoughts and comments.

I will start:

1. The Rangers are in the Stanley Cup Finals. THE STANLEY CUP FINALS.

2. The Rangers are in THE STANLEY CUP FINALS

3. Only two games have been played, and our team has yet to play a home game in said Stanley Cup Finals. Just stating facts.

4. The Rangers have Ryan McDonagh and Henrik Lundqvist playing on their team. In past decades, such players could usually be found playing for such franchises as the New Jersey Devils and Philadelphia Flyers.

5. Scott Gomez, Chris Drury, Nikolai Zherdev, Alex Frolov, Enver Lisin, Old Bobby Holik, Sandis Ozolinsh, Old Darius Gingivitis, Mike "who let that guy tend goal?" Dunham, Old Man Shanahan, Wade "$6.5 Cap Hit" Redden, Ryan "occasional big hit" Hollweg, Brad "the big Jagr helper" Isbister, Angry Sean Avery, etc do NOT play for the New York Rangers. Brad Richards can be bought out with NO salary cap hit.

6. Carl Hagelin is real fast. Like maybe fastest in the league fast? He can go across the ice faster than anyone else. And he plays for the New York Rangers.

7. We have proven that we can compete with our western conference opponent who shall not be named here. And we have yet to play a game at home.

8. SCF!!!1

9. The so-called "main boards" may scoff at the Rangers, or even make fun of this thread. But the good news is, we don't have to care what they think. Why let it bother you? Just live your life, root for your team, and let THEM waste their time stressing about/commenting on other teams/fanbases/people.

10. You guys are all great and passionate fans and people.

Thank You.

I became a Rangers fan in Jan 1994 after I saw them beat LA in OT while my family was on holiday in the US. It was my first experience of ice hockey and all I knew about the sport going in to the game was that Gretzky was the greatest. The fact that Messier and the Rangers beat Gretzky and the Kings made them the best team (I was 12 so complex thought process weren't needed).

The 1994 cup run meant nothing to me because I couldn't experience it. I found out that they won in the paper and was happy, but that was about 18 hours after the fact. It wasn't until the internet became a mainstream household thing and ice hockey started being shown (occasionally) on TV in about 1998 that I could follow the team properly, mainly by radio over internet. Sadly, this coincided with the 'dark years' and so pretty much all I've known as a fan is frustration.

I was in Afghanistan for 2012, so although I could check the scores, follow on HF etc, I didn't really experience the conference finals run. Now, you can't wipe the smile off my face. Sure, I get pissed when we blow 2 goal leads and the refs screw us; but the Rangers are the best team in the East and going toe-to-toe with one of the best teams over the last few years. This season is awesome! All I can hope is that, regardless of the eventual result of this season (and I still have hope), it's not too long until we are back in the Finals playing off for the cup again.

All I know is that while we may be feeling down collectively, these guys are mentally very strong professionals and fully realize that this is a rare opportunity that isn't going to be squandered by a self pittying "woe is me" attitude.
