That is...if this isn't a deal that had to get done before NYR agrees to add #4 to a deal for EPHe's been good but uh what? He should pretty clearly be our 3RD behind Fox & Schneider going forward. A modified NMC too? Crazy
If Drury didn’t get him for Kakko he wouldn’t have been in such a rush to give him a 5 year extension over barely 2 weeks of pretty good play. There's literally no reason why people are up in arms over this deal based on his play rather than being angry about Kakko and the fact that Borgen isn't a big name defenseman. He has been good. Could they improve on him? Sure. But we just won a Presidents' Trophy with f***ing boat anchor Trouba on the second line and we got a steady and not spectacular defenseman that has steadied Miller's game. But people are up in arms over it. Why? If Drury didn't get him for Kakko no one would be upset over this. Oh and it's f***ing 4 million a year. How is that enough money to justify the anger? You'd think this was Trouba from 5 years ago.
4 million a year for a guy who’s going to play 3rd pair minutes.
Cool, cool
Wonder if this could possibly be a precursor to a Braden Schneider for JT Miller trade
I would put the chances of that at zero percent lolWonder if this could possibly be a precursor to a Braden Schneider for JT Miller trade
Drury likes to give extra in contracts and tradesSee- that's about .75 a year more than I think would have been wise, which was my concern from the get go. Now they're going to feel like thay have to play him on the second pairing when the team is competitive.
5 f***ing years for a guy who’s been a 6/7 his entire career. This the the Brendan Smith contract part deux
Well, since he has been here they have certainly been competitive. And he has been playing the 2nd pair during that time, so…See- that's about .75 a year more than I think would have been wise, which was my concern from the get go. Borgen has been solid. I wanted the Rangers to tank and this guy's play has prevented them from tanking.
Name another team that gives out lucrative contracts to defensemen with no offensive upside like the Rangers.

Let’s hope Borgen doesn’t have any weddings this summer …Didn't Brendan Smith's game fall off the face of the earth because he didn't take things seriously and not because he sucked. I know we memed the weight loss but if you gain weight as a hockey player and aren't that amazing to begin with it could make you fall off the face of the earth.
So is Schneider moving to the left side now?
I like Borgen and wanted to extend him. Had him in the $2.75-$3.5 range. This is still just a stay-at-home defenseman we are talking about. This just seems like serious overpayment for a small sample size.
If Borgen is getting $4.1 what is K’Andre Miller getting?
Borgen is currently making 2.7 and he's a pending UFA. I'm sure there's another team that would have offered him as much, if not more.I like Borgen and wanted to extend him.
