Said it when we had 28 games left now we’ve got 22

Update

back ups now need to go 2-3

shesty now needs to go 13-4 which for him is very doable.

This is pretty much the 2:1 pace they’ve been on for the recent while that got them within 4 after being 11 back.

I don't have one with him, other than him retreating back to Russia. I know he's still a kid, so definitely give him a pass on that one.
My point is that drafting a kid this year will likely result in a player who won't see the NHL for 3-4 years. We wont draft in the top 3 or so, so getting an immediate impact player is unlikely. Gorton's job is to walk the line of putting the best possible team on the ice now, while not doing anything stupid to jeopardize the near future.

If he can get a really good return on Kreider, I'm fine with moving him. If the return is meh, and Kreids if willing to take a hometown discount on $ and term, I think its a good idea to resign him.

Id take the assets and the cap hit... the Keane trade has shown that if you are smart with your picks you can move them or the player drafted for needed pieces. Kravtsov was never gonna be put into the lineup the first year, I think he thought he was but that was unrealistic given he is a kid coming from a very different style of hockey. I still believe he is a good pick. Anderson burned us with his attitude, one trait I never thought that would be his downfall.

I think Kreider’s results are inconsistent but I think that makes people think his effort is inconsistent. I would say his scoring is streaky but his effort and impact is usually quite good.
One of the better objective posts I’ve seen. Agreed. Yes he is streaky but I hate when people question his effort. This is same guy who was playing with a blood clot and came back early to help the team.

Hate to sound skanky, but she was my 1st choice, over Brady's and Ryan's Mom. And ya' gotta believe "Anthony's" Mom would be feisty, don't ya' think? = fun.

I mean, should we be talking like this? I was taught to respect women and my elders. Oh wait......I am an elder, so that leaves women. Oh well, 1 out of 2 ain't bad.
Surely the Mom's KNEW that this would happen. They are becoming famous, just like their son's. All that hard work raising them, is finally paying off and they're getting their 15 minutes of fame.

Did I really just waste 30 seconds of my life reading this? I mean here it is your saying you don’t want to come across skanky or like a horn dog...whatever and than you go do exactly that!!...:help:

Here's a news flash, we are losing a 7 game series to the bruins the first round anyway, Kreider on one side or the other won't change that. Continue building the team, I can guarantee Kreider will never be this good again, sell high.

Stop it...you guarantee Kreider will never play this well again?

Maybe just maybe the “Panarin Effect” which is the long awaited sequel to the the “Butterfly Effect” in which the way the narrative goes, Panarin is so good and talented first of all and has such an influence on how the opposition defends the Rangers, the trickle down effect throughout the rest of the lineup should not be surprising to us here in the fan base but in fact embraced as this just might be the new norm.

Just throwing this out there tho more than likely the reality is somewhere between your theory and mine! If that’s the case, I say we do what needs to be done to sign him.

The fact that busts occur doesn’t mean that the best way to build a team is top 10 draft picks.
I think you mean it IS the best way to build. It can be when you get a generational type player..McDavid, Crosby, McKinnon. Picking after the obvious guys are gone becomes more of a crapshoot.
Draft picks are great, but at some point, you have your core group and need to fine tune.

Agreed. I'm already anticipating the worst case scenario for this team - we don't trade anyone at the deadline, miss the playoffs anyway, and both Kreider and Fast walk on July 1. Would be piss poor asset management if that occurred.

That's just not going to happen. We are either going to sign Kreider to an extension or he is going to be traded. This is not the Islanders.

The best way to build a team is through the draft, signing FA's and trades, all of which Gorton has done. Even if we don't pick top 10 that doesn't mean you can't get a very good player. Miller, Chytil, Lundkvist were all in the 20's.

That is what I meant, yes.

And i agree at some point you need the core to move on. I just think we need 1-2 more core pieces. The forward group just does not have the quality and depth throughout like the D does. I’ve said on this board a few times —this is most likely their last sell off (or would be if it was up to me), and next year starts the pedal to the metal.

Pure speculation yet wondering if teams have a concern the Rangers will trade and then resign Kreider in the offseason. Maybe they won’t bother if they believe he’s not signable

Have you seen how Kreider performs in the playoffs?

Guarantee? The numbers he is on pace for are not really all that much different than then numbers he put up his entire career.

If he is traded then he isn’t coming back, it usually never happens. However a few years back Arizona tradeed a rental for a first rounder then resigned that player but I forget their name lol

I’m throwing ideas at a wall at this point.

But yeah, it rarely happens even across other sports where you trade a rental, but then resign him after the season ends.

It did happen with the Yankees recently a couple of years ago where they traded Chapman when he was a rental, but then resigned him after the season ended.

Shesty made some great saves on high quality chances last night and has done so consistently. On top of that, his rebound control is great, eliminating additional high quality chances. Oh, and he can handle the puck. This kid has the chance to win Vezina trophies in his future.
Yes, he will be a great goalie with structure. Even if they allowed the chances, they still held their positions. It's not the "hanging out to dry" crap we saw earlier this season. It's different. He isn't getting bombarded. He still has to shine, but it's not like he's under siege. That's the difference.

Or are you telling me Shestyerkin is soo much better than both Hank and Georgiev? I think not.

Cool news flash. Do you think the players agree? Because that was the basis discussion. Also spare everyone you're guarantee, it means nothing to the rational thinker.
