Says the guy who trots out the example of a guy "playing well" and "adding" to a powerhouse with 4 games and an .888 save percentage in the playoffs at age 43. Yeah, you make absolutely no sense a lot of the time. Hank's 5 years younger and had better numbers than that playing in front of a bunch of toddlers. You're the one that should just let it go. I hope he plays somewhere and wins a Cup and if the only opportunities out there are playing in front of a team like the Coyotes then I'm sure he's done. I hope a contender signs him. You should too.

No, you're just out to lunch. The whole point of this conversation is that Hank is good enough to play on a SC contender and take a shot at a Cup. I point out that Hasek, at 43, played 4 games in the playoffs for the Wings posting a feeble .888 save % and got a Cup. There's no reason that Hank can't do that at 39. You're telling him to retire. I'm saying, if he can, he should join a contender and take a shot like Hasek did.

The idea would be that he just didn't want to be the back up here specifically? Seems so odd for a guy who loves this city and team. It's his right for sure, just seems very weird.

Doesn't seem too weird to me. First, I can see how a "demotion" with the Rangers would be really weird for him as he sits as the backup from game to game. Same thing for Quinn. Can anybody imagine if Shesty had a couple of weeks of really shaky starts or got a short-term injury and then Henrik came in and did a Talbot circa 2015? Just an awkward situation that all parties would want to avoid. Going somewhere else is just a fresh start and clearing of the mind.
Secondly, I would expect he'd want to go to a situation where the starting goalie's hold on the position is a little bit more tenuous then what it is with the Rangers or where they might do a 60/40 split rather than a 70/30.
Yes — but I also feel Hank knows the end is near, and this dude wants a Cup.
Washington is the better team right now and their goaltending situation is more favorable with Holtby leaving.
