Do folks here want him to sign with a contender and try for the cup, go back to Frolunda for a year or two, or just straight retire?
Obviously, I will support whatever he decides. What do I personally want to see? I have no idea. I desperately want him to have a cup, and I desperately want to continue to watch him play...but it's just striking me how weird it will be seeing him in a different jersey.

Take this with a grain of salt but a relative plays golf with someone who knows Tony D well. He told him that everyone pretty much hated Hank (thought he was a huge diva) and his only friend on the team was Zucc.

Heard in no uncertain terms that Hank didn't hold back in the room during games. That didn't sit well with some of the younger players who might have been a bit more coddled with previously organizations. Tony early on was certainly on the receiving end of some of those comments back in 17/18.

Maybe they were just jealous of his manhood.

Sean Avery - “And I admired the fact that he was the most well-endowed teammate I had ever seen, by a considerable margin”.

It's why he defended the 5 hole so well....there was none.

Honestly, for me, it would be quite cool to see him backup on another team, have their starter go down and then Hank do really well filling in. A boy can dream.

Aw what a little snowflake Tony D is.

If anyone earned the right to yell, it's the guy who carried a franchise on his back for 15 years. Doubly funny it was the defenseman who can't play defense who didn't like it.

Henrik is a lot of things but he really, REALLY, doesn't come across as a "diva".

And, let's be honest, anyone that's played the sport (and I'm not implying that you haven't) knows that goalies are... well... "different". All of them.

What on earth are you talking about?!?!?

You can have your opinion, but can we cool it with the idea that the Rangers failed Hank? This is about a team. It's about the name on the front of the sweater, not the back. The organization wasn't started to accommodate any single player. The TEAM fell short and that team included Hank.
You can have your own opinion but can we cool it with the idea that the organization didnt fail hank and the fanbase.

The team fell short bc it was never good enough which has nothing to do with Hank

Can we also cool it with the "Oh it's the name on the froooooont"

We're not 5 anymore. We don't need to blindly adhere to a billion dollar franchises marketing pitch over all else.

Who said they needed to accommodate Hank? They needed to build a winner. Just so happens that would've helped Hank.

They failed Hank, themselves, the fans and the name on the front.

I do recall during the season a few posters here saying the team doesn’t seem to play hard for Hank bc he yells at them. Did I dream that? I’m not saying I believe the game of telephone golf course conversation but a few posters did pick up on body language and playing style differences in the team with which goalie was playing. :::shrug:::

Well, you are correct on one thing, they did fail the fan base.
In today's professional sports world, you better be cheering for the name on the front, because players move so frequently.
It's pretty clear that you don't understand my point by mentioning "helping Hank" and "failed Hank". It's not, and never was, about Hank. If you don't get that, what's the point.
Hank was a great player in his prime. Nothing wrong with fans liking the guy, but it is disingenuous to state that he never played behind really good teams or that management didn't try to put a winning team on the ice.

He never played behind really good teams. He played on teams that overachieved largely because of HIM. The Rangers always had the same problem - not good enough down the middle. Check all of the Stanley Cup winners since Henrik was in the league and all of them were better down the center than the Rangers ever were - Crosby, Malkin, Toews, Kopitar, etc...

I have no doubt that the Rangers tried to field the best teams that they could, but they could never get that number one center that every team needs to win.

It's obvious they were never "the best" team, but shitty teams don't make it to the ECF's multiple times and a SCF.
I know its a popular narrative to state that they went to those rounds because of Hank, but it is a wobbly proposition.
