Sorry, but I don't understand treating Lundqvist like a saint who cannot be criticized. Eli Manning was dragged through the mud toward the end of his career and he deserved love more than Henrik does.
If he and the Rangers had mutually agreed to void the remainder of the contract, now that would have been impressive and praiseworthy. But the NHL continued to be a business today. I appreciate Henrik's tenure as a Ranger; he's definitely going to get his #30 retired here. The fact remains, though, that it was more than past his time to go.
Lundqvist had the more consistent career and was better overall than Manning. Manning was a decent to good QB who had like two great seasons, two good seasons, and two of the most memorable playoff runs in any sport in this region. Ever since the 90s it's a rings based business so that's why Manning is probably going to be remembered in higher circles than Lundqvist.
