As opposed to never winning a round? I think most would agree some winning is better than no winning, but you’re entitled to your opinion.

The Canes actually showed well against the Bolts last year, Jon Cooper had plenty of praise… Ned is a sieve and it cost them.

They added a top 10 goalie in the off-season so it’ll be interesting to see how they manage when goaltending isn’t their achilles heel as it’s been with both Ned, Mrazek, and the list goes on.

I wouldn't say goaltending has been their main issue in recent playoff losses. Last year vs Tampa, 3 of their losses were 2-1, 2-1, and 2-0. 9 goals in 5 games for the series.

In their last 3 playoff series losses, they've scored 25 goals in 14 games.

If Isles are out of chase in a month then if I was Dubie I would go get him as a 6th for a playoff run .. exactly what we need on defense .. and every single guy on Bruins is sacred sh*tless of him .. as soon as Bruins start to run Rielly which they will do again as it worked for them in past .. all it will take is Coyle to get knocked unconscious with a hammer fist and no one else on Bruins will attempt .. although my only question to Chara before trade would be can he do it to former good friends

If we play the Bruins at some point in the playoffs it means we either won the division and/or are into round #2. Losing to them in round #1 and the pitch forks will be out for the 3 stooges.

Not only that I would got to JT and tell him we are making Chara team captain for rest of year and playoffs and if we don't resign him then you should get captain back next season .. these 3 young kids clearly don't respect JT enough .. and JT too nice a guy playing up to Matty .. but everyone will respect Chara and do what he says .. this would be a solid leadership paradigm shift

Run into the ground is not ONLY hockey terminology.
You're completely ignoring what I said about the mental pressures of the job
I have not ignored anything. We are on a hockey board, and "run into the ground" is hockey terminology for a team giving an excessive workload, and that is clearly the intent within Mess' post. The team has not given an excessive workload, and thus, the team has not "run Campbell into the ground". He has actually had an extremely light workload over the past month and a half, and he's not even in the top-5 for GP by goalies this season. You both are talking about how Campbell individually handles a normal workload, and that has absolutely nothing to do with the team "running him into the ground".

They won't or need to do that. Chara will simply have his say.

They were the better team for the majority of the series but Tampa clearly had the better goalie. That might not be entirely fair because Vasilevsky is better than everyone, but some of the weak goals really left a sour taste. Your stats miss the most entertaining game of the series where the teams combined for like 6 goals in half a period. Wild to watch in what was otherwise a tight and low scoring series.

Change goalies I think Carolina sweeps that series. I don’t recall the previous year as vividly but 3 years back they started McBackup for their first playoff game.

Their goaltending hasn’t been stable since prime Cam Ward.

LOL at making a big deal of him not being top 5 in games played when he's in the top 6, having played one less game then the guy in 5th. The point is that he's never been a starter before and doing so for the first time for this specific team in this specific year ... there's a tremendous amount of pressure that comes with that which does carry some risk of mental burnout whether you understand that or not. You're hung up on the term "run into the ground", pick a better phrase if you like but when the coach seems reluctant to play anyone other than Jack unless he absolutely has to, it seems obvious that that increases the burden on Jack and increases the risk of burnout. Maybe it's not an issue, but maybe it is, there's just no way to know.

I didn't make a big deal about anything. I'm just pointing out that Campbell's workload has not been unusual. He has not been "run into the ground".
You're hung up on the term "run into the ground"
That was the phrase used and being discussed. It was incorrect. I pointed out that it was incorrect, and for some reason, you took issue with that.
when the coach seems reluctant to play anyone other than Jack unless he absolutely has to
That's really not true. The only thing he seems reluctant to do is force Jack to sit around not playing for extended periods of time.

He repeatedly failed in post season
Vs Habs
Jackets
By saying that, at least he didn't convince and prove me he is the right guy behind bench. Rod of Canes proved, so did Coper

The thing is, you can't teach what the Leafs lacked in both those series, and in fact a majority of the playoff series they have lost apart from Washington, and that's killer instinct and the willingness to pay the price to win, its either you have it or you don't. So far we keep waiting to see if they have it year after year and it hasn't come out yet.

You can't teach a player the will to hit, block shots, battle along the boards and in front of the net. The jury is still out on this year until the playoffs, but with these recent losses of blowing leads, its entirely possible they still don't have what it takes to win when it matters most.

The boys are not playing well over the past 5-6 games. I think it is conditioning due to the weeks off while other teams didn’t, both physically and mentally. They are just not as sharp as before the break.
It is good that Keefe called out the team bc it shows the players might think they are doing okay as long as they win.
Just remember, this is the same team that before their break, a lot of us really could not think of needing certain players.
Having said all that, if the trend in the last few games continue, it will definitely become a concern.

I didn't "take issue" with anything, I said pick another phrase if you like. It seems that you just don't want acknowledge that mental burnout is a real thing, and it's potentially an issue so you're just quibbling over terminology to avoid discussion.

I see no reason to think that Campbell is experiencing mental burnout, but I acknowledge that mental burnout is a thing. I did pick another phrase, because the claim that we "ran him into the ground" was incorrect. That's all I ever said in this, so I'm not sure what you're taking issue with.

I wouldn't. As I said last year, Zdeno Chara on the Leafs would be a penalty machine.

We have a massive leadership void on Leafs .. we need someone who means business .. Rielly Mitch Matty and JT are great great guys but none of them mean business
JT is the real elephant in the room. 11 million dollars for a guy who is not a leader and not even a high level NHL players anymore.
This is not going to end well for us

What are you basing your opinion on?
My opinion that I see no reason to think that Campbell is experiencing mental burnout is based on me seeing no reason to think that Campbell is experiencing mental burnout. Thought was self-explanatory.

Ok, just thought you may be basing it on something tangible. Carry on.

Not that it would have mattered to the final score likely, but It would have been a well deserved NHL record for Auston.

I have no problem with the call being overturned to kicking motion no goal, I have every problem with the lack of consistency on these very calls. It's actually pathetic. We are not asking the refs to make the right call the second the puck crosses the line, just get it right after review. And by right I mean consistent to the standard they set and enforce as a league. It's truly mind numbing. Saw this tweet pretty well sum it all up perfectly. Again, to me I am OK with no goal on both of these personally, I see an attempt at net on both plays, but 1 is determined redirecting and the other is kicking. Figure that one out for me

They also hardly reviewed it. I watched the video 20 times and I had a hard time seeing anything conclusive. How did they determine it was definitive in 30 seconds?

just watched Canes vs Rangers, I hope leafs will NOT be swept if we play against Canes in playoffs.

That wasnt the Rangers.

We played the real Rangers in NY with the guy thats the odds on favorite to win the Vezina. The Canes played the Rangers in their barn with the sub .500 backup in net.

So many quitters, so much negativity that's triggered by any sign of adversity, whether it's a goal against, a missed scoring opportunity, a blown lead and a loss to a really good hockey club. Not everybody is the 76 Canadiens, you cannot win em all, nobody perfeck baby.

Chins up boys, skate hard, keep your head up and stick on the ice, because the game is far from over.
