We should be able to do fairly well at even strength play against the Rags. Need to be able to finish. It's nice that we have a pretty reliable PP this season. Still gotta make sure that it's a priority to stay out of the box against that team.

I hope we can continue to slay some of our road playoff demons too. Obviously big for this series.

Our style of play matches up much better against the Rangers than the Isles. Going to be a battle, but still think we have enough depth to beat them.

Canes in 7.

It would be interesting to see the analysis of our style vs the Isles and Rangers as a comparison. It's hard to gauge the Rangers in the playoffs this season considering they played the caps. I think we definitely had the more difficult matchup and closed it out in 5.

The isles are better team than their record would indicate. That top line with Horvat, Barzal, and Cizikas was dangerous, and played well against our top line.

It'll be really interesting to see what they do next year. Roy made them a much better team, zero doubt, but they still don't have a lot of talent and they still need serious work on special teams, PK especially. And they need to get younger. I don't know what their prospect pool is like, but might be time to bring in a few kids and see what they can do.

The Rangers scored as many 5v5 goals as the Islanders did while allowing 7 more. We are +3 in goals scored and +19 in goals allowed.

Refs are likely to get involved. The PK will need to be a lot better this series. Islanders got a lot of bounces on the PP but we weren’t very aggressive either. Chatty isn’t pesce on the pk.

In pp/pk differential this season: rangers were 14th at home and 9th on the road (wut rangers get favorable calls on the road, shocked). Canes were 21st at home and 22nd on the road. Expect another imbalanced PP series in favor of NY.

November 2-1 L 5-2 pps in favor or NY
Jan 6-1 W 4-3 PPs in favor of the Canes
March 0-1 L 2-1 PPs in favor of NY
