@TkachuksPestControl and I were debating on the Florida board: what would be the value of Radko Gudas at the deadline, say retained down 50% to (1.25M).

Gudas a physical, defensive right-handed defenseman who averages 18 minutes a game and is a solid penalty killer. He's second in the league for hits per game and is averaging solid 1.5 blockd shot per game.

Would Gudas be more in the 1st round pick, 2nd round pick, or 3rd round pick range?

Florida needs to be buying because they need to eliminate ANY chance they give Montreal Bedard
Florida doesn't veer from what needs to be done based on what is better or worse for montreal. Gudas, reinhart, bennett are all on the table especially if we dont win the next 5 straight.

No that’s what you want, Florida needs to be what’s best for Florida. If Florida thinks there an opportunity to improve there team by trading gudas they should trade him.

To answer op I’d say a contender gives a 1st if retained, maybe need to add a 3rd to get it.

Do you think Florida wants to potentially hand a division rival Bedard?

Doubt it

What's best for Florida is not to potentially hand a division rival Bedard

what’s the new lottery rules…only the top 6 can get #2 in the lottery?

i don’t see Florida finishing in the bottom 6 even with trades

the only way a team gives up a 1st is if it’s a 2nd that becomes a 1st based on advancing to final 4 and he playing enough.

more likely a 2nd + is where I put his value

What's the price for Bennet and a 50% retained Gudas ?
Bennett isn't available. Signed for two more seasons at a reasonable rate and Lundell has struggled this season.

I guess say if we got an equivalent top 4D he could be moved but that's not what most teams want to move if they're acquiring Gudas

Physical d-men come deadline always get over valued. See Chiarot. Add the amount of rental defenseman who can actually play defense this year is scarce.
2 and 3 min.
If he got more I wouldn't be shocked.
Is there anyone who still thinks that trading a first round draft choice + for Chiarot was a good trade for Florida? (It was selected by the The Athletic as the worst trade of last season.)
If most people agree that it was a horrific trade, why would teams make the same mistake this year? Keep in mind that the teams most likely to make the same mistake no long longer have their first round draft choice.

NHL has a history of overpaying over "physical" d-men. See Risto and Chiarot for recent history. The "best" physical d-man trade of recent history would be a 2 and Helleson for Manson and that isn't exactly cheap. for a 20 game rental.

Who else is a physical d-man out there? Schenn? Yippee!!

This is you 2023 rentals come deadline
Schenn
Klingberg
Ghost
Braun
Shattenkirk
Gavrikov
Hamonic
Maatta?

Other than Klingberg Arnuld is saying that is one ugly mother BEEPING list.

So if you are desperate for a defensive d-man
1) Who are u going for?
2) what is the offer?

He will get a very decent return at 50% (1.25mil). Like someone else said I think 2nd+3rd.

Gavrikov, Gudas, Kulikov and Hamonic are the physical D who are on the market. Gavrikov will be the big get.

Edmunson is being tossed around our market by Dreger, Lebrun and Serevalli, different from the above is he's not a pure rental due to the 2nd year. Ask is a 1st apparently but likely comes with retention
