The voice of the Hershey Bears, Scott Stuccio, announced that the Bears parent company, Hershey Entertainment and Resorts, eliminated his full time position as radio announcer for the Hershey Bears. Scott tweeted and put up a message on FB informing Hershey fans of Hershey's decision today.

That leaves me wondering, which AHL team is in need of a new radio guy (Stuccio should land on his feet somewhere) and who are some up and coming guys that Hershey could be looking for?

The bigger question is why did they eliminate his position or did they just eliminate him and are still going to have a full time radio announcer.

He won't give out any details but it seems a bit fishy.

My theory is that Hershey might be making Stuccio's former job strictly a part time radio position and they might create a typical Communications Manager job.

I guess we will find out soon enough :dunno:

In Cleveland, Tony Brown has the title of "Manager of Broadcast Services & Team Communications / Broadcaster" But he's also just a layer of a "Broadcast Services" and "Marketing/Communications" team..Might be that Hershey is just restructuring in-house to have their radio broadcaster do a lot more within the organization,

Stuccio did exactly what you were describing. He handled TV (in the playoffs) and radio but also sent out the press releases and what not.

Hershey is far behind other teams in terms of social media use and the graphic design that goes into that. I'm wondering if they are creating a more Communications/Social Media role and that the Radio position will be more of an in season job so Hershey Entertainment can save a buck

Bridgeport Sound Tigers are looking for an radio announcer and Communications manager, in fact I applied to the position.

I wouldn't be surprised if Stuccio winds up at one of these positions. I'm sure he will land on his feet somewhere. He's a pretty good radio guy and did well in the tv broadcasts during the playoffs

Barracuda may be signing former ECHL SF Bulls radio guy. (He filled in when Lundquist had family emergency and missed some games.)

Now that Brendan Burke is moving on to become the Islanders TV announcer, expect the Utica Comets announcer job to be available soon

The Comets just announced that they hired Andy Zilch to replace Brendan Burke in Utica. He spent the last two years in Springfield and his YouTube clips sound pretty good. Did Springfield keep the PBP guy from Portland which would explain why he was available?

I know Zilchy on a personal level. I can't speak to what Springfield's doing but I can say Andy said they didn't even approach him about the job despite him still being in the area.
