I'm cautiously optimistic, I always am at the start of POs. Anything can happen. If Gus Bus is sharp, I like our chances. If the Bus ain't sharp, we go down in 5.

Either way, I'm excited. Love playoff hockey.

Special teams are a dumpster fire , I would be shocked if that alone didn’t sink this team

I’m expecting Vegas to beat us easily. We’re not winning with Jojo, Hartman, Trenin, Brazeau, Nyquist, Gaudreau, Foligno. This team is not built up front, for success. That’s like a whole pile of crap. Foligno may not be crap, but he doesn’t do much offensively. He is a nice forechecker.

We need to reload.

That's like 7 piles, by my count.

Demidov steps right in and makes a difference , I’m assuming the team will fall apart because whatever plug Demidov displaced had fought all year to get there

Foligno's perfectly serviceable in a bottom six role. Not quite as effective as he was a few years back, but I'd rather have him than not. As for Freddy, a fine 3C. Not elite, not great, but definitely good. Almost a 20-20 guy who plays 15 a game 82 a season, and doesn't take penalties. No, really; he's got 44 career PIM, just 8 this season. Only real knock on him is that he's sub-.500 on the dot (48.2% this year, lowest since his 9-game rookie campaign in 16-17), and maybe his lack of that extra physicality you'd want from a bottom-6 guy.

I've been harsh on him and his contract at times, but having Freddy or Moose is not a problem. Those are guys you can win a cup with. Not because of them, but they'll be a positive contributor to a team.

The crap's some of the guys we've signed in FA (Trenin primarily, and keeping Jojo for too long when we don't have a real role for him) and replacement-level big guys. Nyquist is aging, sadly; boy would I love the Gustav we had on his previous run here back, but that's not the case. And speaking of cases, Hartman's defo one. Needs to harness his spark properly, cuz right now he's lost and pissed, as if looking for drinks in IKEA.

But yeah, Trenin and especially Brazeau were the kind of guys we got for playoffs. This team's supposed to be physical and built for 'em. Let's see how that turns out.

That's not completely fair. Freddy Hockey has been downright good this year. Foligno has played well in the last couple. Marjo has also been playing well. (But we've played this game before. Contract MarJo isn't the same as regular marjo... don't want him back). But the rest of the bona fide pylons can absolutely go.

Freddy has been great this year, folingo good enough. I was ready to be done with hartman but he has been ok since his major stupid, it's like he has to have one melt down a year then does ok. Marjo good for the money and doing good things lately. Trenin and Brazeau might as well sit for Buium because if they won't play him on defense then throw him some minutes on wing.

Vegas is the type of team the Wild can’t beat. Big and fast and hit hard. Our D will be lucky to get out of this one unhurt. Our small forwards won’t be able to produce against a large, good D. Our special teams are abysmal as a result of poor, inflexible coaching and will doom this team. Generally I give a team one win because the other team let’s up once they’re up 3-0 in the series, and desperate play produces a win, but I don’t see that happening with this team. This team is not built for playoff success. VGK in four.

I think the most realistic scenario is Vegas in 5. Size is everything in the playoffs, and they have size all over. Rossi is going to get manhandled

In the past, it seems like we have done well against VGK, if we are healthy. They are a tough, sound team that can score.

- Foligno can't act like a teenager trying to prove how tough he is, putting the team on the PK

- I still can't believe the Brazeau for Lauko and Marat trade. The latter two provided speed, depth and toughness, which we need in the bottom six. Brazeau is slow, passive, and it's pretty clear that his early season offense was a mirage(as the B's well knew, hence the trade).

- I have a feeling Rossi is playing hurt. If not, then he has run into a wall. Hope we see a return to what he has been for most of this season. We need him.

- I have been one of the few on this board to suggest that Buium needs more time, and he does, but there is an obvious hole on the PP. Play him 4-5 minutes/night on the PP, 5-7 more at 5v5? I worry a bit that he will get hammered by the VGK forecheck, but Merrill does anyway, with his Nate Prosser impression. Let's roll the dice. Maybe even go with 11 forwards, 7 D?

- Otherwise, everyone needs to play really well. I don't think that beating Vegas is impossible. Hopefully Hynes has some ideas, and doesn't just play this series like it's the regular season.
