Both 3 goals, 8 assists (before tonight I believe)

Hughes is having an unreal start to the season, but I still take the guy who likely is more consistent down the stretch

Ah. Really wish you hadn’t done this. I’m so psyched for how Hughes is doing. But the Canucks hate on this site is strong and ascendant right now as the team improves. Would've really loved to keep it at bay just a bit. (Obviously do what you need to do to find your bliss though - it’s all pretty fun and meaningless. Cheers!)

Who cares if the rest of the site hates us? When the rest of the site hates us, our team is doing good. It's always been that way.

If you get emotionally affected by what Avs fans think of the team you follow, or Canucks fans, you probably should take a step back from posting here.

He has a Norris and a Conn Smythe.

He's been the better player in each season of their careers.

That's still what he's asking about though. So why you bring Norris and Conn Smythe into this and make the poll about something it's not is beyond me.

Best two defencemen in the league are Makar followed by Fox. I take track record (last three years) into account.

Based on this short season so far Hughes has arguably performed at a higher or more impressive level. It's only a short portion into the season though so maybe hold off on these threads?

To be fair… these early polls are for fans and their enjoyment and definitely shouldn’t be used at this point for any serious conclusion. If everyone had to wait at least until midway through a season to make any comparison poll there would be no activity here. Results should be taken with a grain of salt since it’s early, but I don’t mind folks making polls just for kicks. 10 games doesn’t change their careers.

I'll give you one reason. 2011. Our fans were so obnoxious on twitter and here that the whole hockey world started to hate us. Did it have an effect on the outcome, probably not but who knows. I'd like to be able to have a discussion on the main boards about the canucks.

As for the poll, if the current trends keep up then Hughes has caught Cale and I'd call it a draw. One major advantage Makar has had is a legitimate partner to raise his game, now Hughes has that.

Edmonton fans hate the Canucks even when the Canucks are bad. Gotta give credit for consistency.

Unlike fair weather haters like Leafs fans.
