Surely there are some who would argue with what this title even means.

Reason being is that depending on what time of the year and during what stretch of games you are talking about, Quick being Quick is a floating definition.

It is true, every goalie has bad games. Every team has bad games that reflects poorly on a goaltender's numbers. But Jonathan Quick seems to do this in the most fantastical and overblown way. When he is bad, he is REALLY bad. When he is good, well, we have all seen what that is like....

Nice article. The Kings as a whole are fairly Jekyll and Hyde. Their defense is also back to performing at an elite level. As is the PK. And success on the road. The lone thing not all the way there, and it's a biggie, is closing out games while leading in the 3rd period. THAT was a huge staple of Kings success the last few seasons. I'm sure the number of leads blown in the 3rd period this season dwarfs the total number over the last 3 or 4 seasons combined.

Great writeup, love it.

Yep, highest highs, lowest lows. I'd wager no one here would want another goaltender with everything on the line.

When it comes down to the type of situation the Kings find themselves in now, Quick takes no prisoners.

Quick is the best big game goalie on the planet. This is his wheelhouse.

Since February 3 - .926 SV% and 1.87 GAA.
Over the last five games - .946 SV% and 1.60 GAA.

Momentum is building at the usual time.

And the goal support has waned considerably.

Kings have gone from around 2.8ish goals per game over the last 20 to only 2.5 over the last 10, and 2.2 over the last five.
