There are plenty of finns in Dallas, but then we have Aho in Carolina and Barkov in Florida etc - many great players that could win it this year.

1) Which team do you root for now?

2) Which individual player do you wish could win the cup

No 2 does not have to be the same team as no 1 - I mean if it only came down to ONE player winning it , who would deserve it the most.

I think most Finnish fans root for the players to succeed - atleast my friends do. I root for Dallas and Florida. Barkov played for my favourite team in Finland - so did hid dad. I also have a soft spot for Montreal...

1. Dallas
2. Barkov
Barkov first. Dallas Finns will have their chance again

Having followed Barkov from his first season in Panthers I'd say Florida is my #1 Dallas #2 and Carolina #3. Regular season I root for Panthers, CBJ and Dallas in this order.
Colombus third overall in a very deep draft. Exciting stuff

1) I don't give a crap about the Finns. This isn't the Olympics.
2) Pavelski.

It's not a competition of nationalities, that's what the World Cup and Olympics were for (RIP). I root for my team, the Habs, but since they are already eliminated I don't really care who wins. I just watch it for general playoffs excitement, and the Leafs because having the Leafs around makes everything more electric.

I have alwqys liked the underdogs, the unregogniced onces. Shy and so on. During U20 tournament, i hated how all chanted Laine ja Puljujärvi, while Aho was IMO driving the line.

I started to follow his NHL games and then pretty quickly got attached the whole Canes. I like many things in the team and franchise and sense of humor of its supporters. So i became caniac.

So I guess my answers are obvious.

For general Finnish audience nationalities matter. NHL wouldn't get such coverage in Finland without Finns playing in the league, and without traditions related to old Finnish NHL-players. Also, NHL players tend to get followed in relation to Team Finland as real or potential members of the NT roster.

From North American perspective these matters are no doubt little bit different.

Dallas is my favourite. But any team that has finns would be okay. So Dallas - Florida/Carolina would be best possible final for me...

Individually i hope Hintz/Heiskanen wins Conn Smythe or Kotkaniemi scores game winner in overtime.

My favourite team has changed many times but it usually always has finns in the roster. Maybe only expectation was St.Louis in the 90.s. Thats because Brett Hull. He was "bestest" ever at that point of my life. At the moment i really dont have a single favourite.

Interesting answers, I think if I were born in Finland without any special player from my home town my answer would probably be

1) Dallas
2) Barkov

But of those teams with finnish star players I hope Florida wins - because if they knock out Boston and Toronto I think they are the most worthy champions .... Some teams will have a much simpler road to victory

PS I also want hockey to be creative & fast paced - Tampa always has fast paced games, and Toronto's creative offense + often poor defense makes for fun games . :)
Too many teams play the traditional North American game which is effective but a bit boring when all teams play the same way . Kucherov at his best is something special for example.

Well, I'd prefer it if either Oilers or Leafs won. But of the teams with Finns, probably Dallas.

Although, I'll say that neither Oilers nor Leafs have played so well these playoffs that I'd really want them to win either, so I'm a bit meh about these playoffs overall.

You are absolutely right, having Finnish players around in the NHL is extremely important for the NT and hockey in Finland in general. It's just not what drives my interest in the league.

Canes has been my favourite for a while but Dallas and Florida(they have long history with finns, Jokinen etc too) ain't far back.

I personally don't really root for a teams though, I root for specific players, regardless of their team. For example, I really like Matthews/Toronto because that core reminds me of Finnish national hockey team when they were still learning how to win consistently and not let Sweden be the monkey in their back.

When it comes to individual, it's usually the oldest big name guy who has not won it yet, so Barkov in this case. They all have time to win still so I am just happy that Finns perform well.
