Hi everyone,

As you can see from my avatar, I'm a hab fan, but I had a question regarding Marc-Édouard Vlasic.

I know he started playing for the sharks in 2006, and he was only 19 years old. In Montreal, I know when young players start playing for the big team, they often stay for some time at another older player's place until they start living by themselves. Also, even on the ice, you can sometimes see veterans helping younger players dealing with certain issues.

So I was wondering, when Vlasic arrived, did another player take him in charge, whether on or off the ice? Everytime the Sharks play in Montreal Vlasic is interviewed by our broadcasting team to talk about stuff, but I never heard him talk about that...

Well, I just hope you guys have a cool answer, and I really hope the Sharks put it together this year in the playoffs! You guys have a nice team really

They often do the host family type of thing for rookies in San Jose. Vlasic is among those who did that. I don't know who the people were he was living with prior to getting his own place, but it wasn't another player.

EDIT- He was likely paired up with Hannan for most of his rookie season. Don't really have anything interesting to say as far as a vet taking him under his wing or anything, but Vlasics rookie season wasn't all that recent.

Hey fellow Montréalais

I found this

Heading into last night's game against the Los Angeles Kings, Vlasic was averaging 20:19 of ice time per game while paired with veteran Scott Hannan.

"My mom came over to the hotel and did some laundry and, no, I didn't refuse the offer," said the young bachelor, who plans to move in with a local family.

Other interesting tidbits in there!

Guy Boucher, Patrick Roy, Ron Wilson, Todd McLellan and Mike Babcock. Vlasic has had some pretty good coaches throughout his career.

Nice find. Some good stuff about Pavelski in that link.

Pavelski will enter the University of Wisconsin for the 2004-05 season, where he will have to battle hard to become a regular in the line-up due to skating concerns. However, Pavelski has four years of college hockey until the Sharks have to make a decision on whether to sign the Wisconsin native, by which time Pavelski’s skating concerns may be a thing of the past. Currently, Pavelski appears to be a long shot to make the NHL, but with improvement could become a solid third or second line center in the AHL.

Emphasis mine.

Boy the very fact that someone would come to ask this specific question just illustrates the difference in the depth and breadth of hockey media in the respective countries.

That's exactly what I've been thinking since I first saw this thread.
