What's the deal with his lack of minutes over the past month or so? He was having a great season and now every time I look in the box score, he's got 12 min, 13, min, 8 min. He is a plus 14. What's going on over there? And do you think it will change?

His defense is mediocre. He is getting beat along the boards, losing the puck consistently.

Sutter not happy. Pearson gets it, he has become a hitting machine. Toffoli is going to have to spend some more time in the gym if he wants more minutes from Sutter.

That's my observations, anyway.

Toffoli got a second job selling Amway and he has been having to give that some of his attention

A little Column A .....little column B

Toffoli had been only getting about 13 mins a game the whole season, even when playing on that 70s line. He barely gets any PP time and minimal PK time if any at all. He'll get more minutes as his game and body grow or as soon as Sutter retires.

This is TT's first full season, minutes will be watched so he doesn't run out of steam down the stretch.

^^^^^^ Sutter was limiting his minutes so when he is on the ice he will be more rested.
He has been out there at the end of games, with the other team has an empty net, so I don't think it is a trust issue

Toffoli had mentioned in a couple of interviews that he was challenged by Sutter to compete harder as was Pearson. Pearson is visibly doing it, TT is mostly doing it. He can actually hit pretty good and get scrappy with the best of them, but I counted at least three easy drivebys last game that Sutter couldn't have been thrilled with. Not the keep-skating-to-get-back-in-the-play type, the im-not-pressuring-that-corner-because-I-won't-get-the-puck type. It's a long season and his focused consistency is just part of the learning curve. He'll be fine.

Sutter always play's the rookies low minutes, unless they can prove handling big minutes, and keep their energy levels up.

An Example would be Muzzin/McNabb, McNabb has had some games where he logged 15+ minutes. Muzzin during his rookie season logged 20+ when he was playing well.

Toffoli has also been known to cheat a little, and be on the wrong side of the puck, or leave the zone without the puck.

Kopitar, Carter, Gaborik, Williams, etc. eating up ice time is what is going on. We have to many brony's and not enough pony's to go around.

I thought the question was about Toffoli not Williams...

Sutter hates skilled players... that's why he's always putting them with plugs like Lewis/Clifford/King.
