That seems like a scenario from 10 years ago, but who knows.
Somehow I have a feeling it will be decided early on.

Realistically, none. The longer we can keep this one tied, the more interesting it'll get. But I can't really see that being the case for a long period of time.

If Germany wins I would rank it as the biggest upset since 1980. Olympics.

Well, Germany is the underdog that's for sure.
I'm glad that they made it to the QFs, so I will just lean back and hope for a miracle ;)

Germany has beaten Russia only twice in the modern era:

1994 Olympics (4-2), and 2011 Worlds (2-0)

I Highly doubt they'll get #3 tomorrow.

Never say never. Russia is good and determined, but Germany has a good team as well and I think they are going to fight it out. Extremely good discipline and defense. Soooo, if Russia gets emotional and starts doing mercurial things it frequently does, who knows what will happen. I am rooting for Russia though. Breadman, Ovi, Kuzya, Pavel Valerjevich (that's what they call Datsyuk in Russia), that top scoring line of the tournament (Shipa and Dada) plus a bunch of big and fast defense guys. I hope Russia wins, but I think it is not going to be easy.

Russia shouldn't look past the Germans. They have some very good players and are more than capable of pulling off an upset if the Russians don't come out and play hard.

I think Russia wins in the 5-1 range, but they definitely should not underestimate Germany.

Huh? More than Belarus vs Sweden in 2002?

This came to mind too. The Belarus upset over Sweden in 2002 would be a way bigger upset than Germany over Russia.

Russia should keep the momentum rolling and beat the Germans, but I don't think it will be a blow out.

Ye for sure man. Belarus over Sweden was best on best in the Olympics. Which is crazy to think of, because in the round robin Sweden beat Canada 5-2 or something like that.

BTW- Russia will beat Germany 4-1.

I'd say that discipline and defense are actually some of the biggest weaknesses of the team ;)

Thy number of defensive breakdowns have led to quite a lot scoring chances and also penalties to Germany. So far the goalies have managed to bail out the defense often enough to still succeed, but I think Russia has too much firepower to not take advantage of these chances.

No chance Russia muffs this one. A resounding Russian W with a lopsided score...Russia will face much stiffer competition in the 1/2 final.
