With proper goalie this team Finland could have done something great in this tournament. Still can but Lankinen just isn't good enough.

Still think Lankinen > Olkinuora? You can make excuses for all goals, but goalies are allowed to make saves, too. Lankinen's been bad all tournament, Jalonen doesn't use his eyes and here's the result. Such a waste.

Yes, because Olkinuora had a shutout against the relegated France.

Lankinen had three team mates and one Swede screening him on that one.

Sweden are too cool. Or sloppy.
Eriks shot crashed that goal cam. Never seen that.
Finland is really good but their goals are lucky shots but they count as well

Well, then I think we can agree on that this game has been very brutal for a goalie. Honestly, basically all the goals have been really tough, except for Lundqvist's 1st goal.

Still I agree with you, this isn't exactly gold medal goalkeeping. No puck luck?

I'm not judging Olkinuora by his freaking game vs France did you watch the playoffs?

Lankinen is an ECHL goalie, guy sucks.

Playing like crap and still scoring 4 goals in the first two. Feels strange.

We're only up because of good individual performances by Pettersson and Nylander. Grönborg is f***ing terrible, other teams don't even have to do anything to enter our zone. It's been the same all tournament.

This mistake having too many players on the ice at beginning of the first period by the Finns is really a pitty. Otherwise score would still be tied.

This Gladstone Gander stuff has gone too far. I can understand it as a joke, but is Mertaranta actually selling the idea that the Swedes are ahead by one goal because of luck? That 4-3 goal was a helluva shot, nothing to do with luck (unlike the second Finnish goal). I get it that he's a homer, but how stupid you have to be to genuinely believe that the Swedes are just lucky from one year to another?

Jalonen is simple with his goalies, picks #1 and hopes he plays well and gets into the groove. Sticks with him trusting that eventually chosen starter gets good
Good tactic 80% of the time, sucks 20% of the time

That was hell of a shot.. Luck had nothing to do with that.

The annoying part about Mertaranta (Finnish commentator), when lets his bias dominate his narration and he gets thrustrated more than the players.. I guess I have got used to NHL commentators and I love how unbiased they usually are.

I've lived in Finland. I've been hearing from my Finnish friends that we Swedes just get ridiculously lucky for 15 years now.

I'm so amused the Finnish hockey journalists are driving the point that Sweden is Gladstone Gander, when Finland is Donald Duck. I don't know, I just think it's such a funny narrative that captures the soul of Finnish hockey. :)

I really wonder what this swedish team could have done if they actually had some sort of coherent plan on how to win a game.
Just throwing great individual players on the ice and hope they score faster than the opponent won't work against russia.

Bit annoyed with Sweden, just dumped the puck out and let the forward do all the work.
The defense supposed to be the best, but turned out to be the worst.

Yes I know that's what he does, he picks the goalie and sticks with him, that's what's so infuriating about him picking the wrong goalie as #1 and not giving the others a chance to prove themselves to be superior because he made the bad choice of making veini #2 instead of olkinuora so olkinuora only got 1 game to prove himself. It's such a failure of goalie coaching display.
