It feels like this is happening year after year with usa. They come with a great team but when it comes to elimination games they don't show up. No surprise they haven't won in like 40 years.

Anders Lee and Kevin Hayes have been brutal today. Lee is taking bad penalties, extremely soft along the boards and on the PP, he had all kinds of space to score around the net but for some reason refused to take to his forehand. Would have been an easy goal. Hayes is just floating. Refuses to shoot and getting pushed around. Whole team playing poorly mostly but those 2 have been especially bad

USA always choke against Finland when game is on big ice. I think this is worst US effort in this tournament so far. Problem with too young team. Finns experience is just so important in these games. I already said earlier that US should lose agaisnt Russia to avoid Finalnd in QF.

It's just a one goal lead. I'm pretty sure we'll lose this. We're yet to see a team coached by Marjamäki play a full 60 minutes of quality hockey.

If you want gold, you shouldn't be avoiding anyone

We almost never come with a great team. Only in the last few years have we produced the depth to bring a young team of skilled players which is why we've actually had some success. We use to struggle to even make the quarterfinals.

Rantanen = great
Aho = great
Honka = great

Happy to see our young players answering to the expectations

Pulju on the other hand is still far behind.

No excuse for a team that was 1st in its own group after round 1. Also, USA beat Russia. Finns have always been good, but it looked like USA was much better this year. Underestimated Finns?

If you read the Bjugstad interview a Finnish newspaper did(Which you likely didn't as it was in Finnish), it seemed to me like they were only thinking about semis and finals. They didn't even consider Finland a legitimate threat.

Behind but not bad tonight. He deserves time before evaluation with his play

Yeah but Finland its just always some reason toughest opponent for US. It doesnt matter how badly Finns has played earlier in the tournament.

I think that Pulju has helped Finland reach new heights in scientific inventions as it appears that he's managed to find the formula for an invisibility potion, which he's evidently testing in this match.

Ahos strenght surprises me. Hes already closing Barkov level overall play

He goes into situations bravely and wins them physically many times -
against canada and usa. Didinyt expect it

funny you say this - was thinking about it already when the match up was set.

Age, yeah maybe, but definitely this discipline you need to crack their structure open, the patience. Actually last 5 times US played FIN I could tell after 5 minutes if they will win or lose and was always right .. today you saw it too, actually looks like quasi-replays of past games

same way, same style, same low scoring ****** game quality helpless americans outcome

ps: still doesn't justify the sedated way they presented themselves from minute 1 on. actually, slow, not present, apathic as if jet leg just kicked in, usually the Finns cause that after some time but today it was there from the start of the game ... they played and skated the way Blashill is giving interviews, press conferences, *znoooooooooooozzzzzzzzzzzz*

I have said this since forever. Aho reminds me of young Zetterberg. Winning battles they should have no business winning.

I remember them being in relegation games even. That they are this good at the WC is pretty recent.
