Are you serious? Rönnberg coached to a wjc gold and he likes to play young players. He is nothing like grönborg.

mårts won a gold and grönborg also won a gold. so what? grönborg, mårts, rönnberg, hallam, berglund etc they all have similar swedish coaching-styles.

Will do! Many thanks! =)

What is "better than this"? We capitalized on a few chances, played it tight, and the Swedes were cramping up offensively for most of the game. If this was a best of seven series, we'd most likely still loss in 5/6. Some stars aligned. There's still a lot more talent in that Swedish group than the German team.

The German team is actually good, there is talent there. Once you break the glass ceiling you will find it much easier to play to your full potential. You are just not used to winning in hockey yet.

The Big Six teams have players that were born thinking they have a chance in any tournament, even with their shitty players (comparatively). This gives them a psychological edge over teams outside of this "club".

Your country have a large population, you are great at organizing things and working together. You have one of the most successful football teams ever. You have high-end talent. A successful run at this years Olympics will create a surge of kids taking up hockey ..

And then give it fifteen years and see what happens. That thought actually scares me. Smaller countries like Finland, Sweden and Check republic won't stand a chance. It is a numbers game.

Make the best of it and go grab a medal won't you. It is good for the game of Hockey. Good luck!

He's learned to coach quite quickly. I remember when he first started as the head coach and I had high doubts as it felt like too soon after he ended his career as a player. I'm always doubting anyone that switches too soon.

I dont know now eher to start i star with personal thoughts. Okay first i had no doubts in him, is his first Job nothing to doubt to await.

So now to the other fact, he is a former NHL Player. What that means, he had good Coaches, know how to practice and how to developing Players. But since his last Game in Landshut, where he ended his Carrer with Chara and other NHL Players, it was clear he would be joining the german Hockey Office. The only fact what was not so clear where he would go. I saw him more in the young player developing Team or Department. But then it was anounced he would be the next Head Coach.

Then i heard some live Interviews, he also answered me two of my personal Question. So my thought in him was good. I called not every Player is also a good Coach, but it his art and Way he played Hockey he wants to play from the Roster. And for some of the younger Players in the Roster, the current Coach was a Player everyone was looking up and the older once in the Team, played with him WM over Years. So the trust and knowing in this Team, is a big fact, but yes he is a good Coach and might be getting better in the next Year.

But now with the end comeing near to the Olympic Games, the true strength will be shown again in the WM, when the none PO NHL will join the Team and then Sweden will be back in the Semifinal.

Extra Note: Marcos Sturm last Game was legendary great Athmosphere, but the whole Game was chanted for the comeing Back Legendary Hockey Goalie from landshut. For those who dont now, Sturms Career started in Landshut juniour and mature Teams.

Disappointing.
Grönborg didnt use his resources right, and Garpenlöv disnt get the powerplay working at all - thats what they should get shit for. Sadly, the state of the SHL (as Ive been mentioning before) is worse than it was a few years ago. We have loooots of players overseas compared to like 10 years ago and that explain pretty much.

To those that compare this loss to Belarus in 2002 are kidding themselves. Germany are a competative team and is basically the same one that pushed us in last years WCH in which we had a way better roster.

Yes, this was our E-roster vs the germans A-team (Draisatl and someone else missing), but Im disappointed of how Grönborg and co coached this team. I also question how they handled Dahlin - and why did they keepthat SAIK line intact?...

I dont see this as a fiasco, but I think Sweden couldve handled things better.

Ridiculous!. Yeah, I said that when the set-up was clear, because I thought this would look as bad as Russia vs Norway would look. Of course, Russia vs Norway was ridiculous. As a Norwegian, I expected that. But Sweden? Man. How can a hockey-nation like Sweden accept this? Has the South-Koreans mentioned the coach has requested political asylum yet?

And congrats, Germany! Man. I wish that was us. Knocking Sweden out of the Olympic Hockey tournament:D

Germany and Norway's dominance in this Olympics has been unbelievable Norway is now winning medals in speed skating and Germany's hockey team is in the medal round This is insane

Congratulations to Germany!! Well deserved victory! Finns and Swedes out of the medal games, wow

The New York Times Times said our dominance came from drinking beer instead of Gatorade.
But we never drank Gatorade before so there are some holes in this theory:D

Grönborg and Rönnberg are polar opposites.

Rönnberg is 10x more coaching active than grönborg ever was.

That's because those players are working in the entertainment industry that has an oligopoly over hockey. If they played in a sports league, this wouldn't be a problem.
The NHL is one of the most prestigious leagues in the world. If team sweden had their players from the NHL there it would most likely be the same results. 4-3

German hockey will get better, they gave the oilers a generational talent in Draisaitl and hopefully many more quality players to come.

How many times we heard it?

It makes sense. He learned from one of the best defensive coaches, Claude Julien and this style fits team Germany as well. These ex player coaches often have that quality to pump the team up mentally as well sort of like captains do. It makes a good combination.

This is something that the current head coach of Finland is lacking because he didn't really have a career as a player. Now the Finnish coach is criticized very hard about everyone that the past 3 big tournaments Finland doesn't look like the old Finland and lacks in fighting spirit. So clearly this Finnish coach is lacking something on making his team better on the mental side and only thing he knows is tactics. So just a recent example that you need to have both qualities as a coach or at least bring assistant coach that is a spirit creator or something.

Congrats Germany! Well deserved win. It s pity that the germans not invest more in their juniors. This Country could have so much potential,if hockey were more famous there.

Okay Finnland Team is a different Discussion, but to mention it in a short note. The most important Finnland Players are mostly playing PO. So also during the big Tournaments, he has only a few Players from the whole Finnland Roster together. But still Finnland always good in the Big Tournaments and with the youth they got together in the last Years the Future for Finnish national team is brighter then other Teams have, Laine, Heppo, Barkov, Repo, Aho, Teravainen. The onyl lack of expierence, or open hole, is the future Goalie Position and the D-Line.
