As if benching young players is a new concept that no coach has ever used before. Come on now.

The usage of Dahlin is not the reason for the failure of Team Sweden this year. Still it's the only thing people complain about.
People wanted to see the draft number 1 overall play. Simple as that.

Also Elias Pettersson deserved a spot on this team.

After an interview with Rasmus Dahlin just now .. Peter Forsberg comments on it and says something like this:

Of course Rasmus is disappointed .. but he had nothing to do with the loss ..

Implying that he, much like the rest of us, was more or less a spectator.

[edit:] Perhaps this is what counts as gaining experience in Grönborgs analysis.

Of course he had nothing with the loss. He played 6 minutes the whole tournament. Why are they even interviewing him.

It was readily apparent to anyone watching the games that the Swedish PP was not working very well. It was certainly not working against the Germans in the group stage and not in the QF's either. Dahlin is our best weapon on the PP. PP's are very important in a short tourney with 1 game eliminations. This can not be stressed enough. Don't see what the issue is here? Why not rely on the best player you have in a very important role? Why? Why make your team worse?

Without the north american players? Did you see swedens team. Germany was simply better.

We definitely were a significant underdog. Probably not a gulf big enough for any top-5/10 of Olympic upsets, but it's still a pretty massive upset. It showed over large parts of the game, too.

If your federation is not able to secure your players to participate, your complains should be adressed to your federation.

why did we lose to belarus in 2002?
why did we lose to czech with 1-6 in 2004?
why did we lose to slovakia in 2010?

it does not matter who is the coach, we keep losing against teams we are better than in important games...its not grönborg.....båg failed and so did hardy nilsson....the whole swedish system is the problem,

the other big nations do not lose important games to lesser nations like sweden is :/ its only sweden among the big nations that have this problem.

Congrats Germany, this has to rank as one of the biggest upsets ever in Olympic hockey.

Perhaps .. but it also shows that there is increased parity today, Germany and Switzerland are great hockey nations. What used to be an invite only club (Russia, Canada, US, Finland, Sweden and Czech republic) now has an ever expanding talent pool.

But lets not kid ourselves; if all the NHL players were available, it would still be about the big six teams.

I'll be cheering for Germany from now on.

I know you don't really enjoy losing. But come on. We missed a lot of players as well.
Number of players whove played in the NHL this season:
Germany: 5
Sweden: 82

With that said, I shouldnt be salty. Enjoy it, honestly. I just have a hard time taking this tournament seriously, its a damn shame there are no legit best on best international hockey tournaments anymore.

No sweden simply isnt better than this if you takw away 150 players from ahl/nhl

Yeah, and after beating team Finland in a tight one goal game that could have gone either way.
Thats not our fault sweden couldn't beat germany, they controlled their own fate and failed, it's on them.

And Canada gets full marks for it's win over finland, they got their shit together after a bad first period and flat out played Finland in the 2nd and 3rd, well done!!

The deserving teams are moving on, as they should.

Now when I've been able to calm down a bit.. f*** Grönborg and the Swedish Icehockey Federation.

Well, Sweden has way more active players anyway so that should balance it out.
I enjoy the win no matter the circumstances.
You'll certainly beat us in the games to follow. So you're still better at hockey. No worries.

WHAT?
Have you seen Finland? Or are they not 'a big nation' in your mind?
We just fail all around in all games where we could have won them with 1 shot. That 1 shot never comes.

Sweden has way more depth than Germany. This is an upset. Germany was the clear underdog. That there are no NHL'ers this tourney is unfortunate but hardly an excuse for this fiasco. No one had NHL'ers. Deal with it.

Are you sure Sweden was better than Czechs in 2004?
