EDIT:Round Robin seems to be qualifying for 16 seed playoff ranking. Not 'OFFICIAL' playoff series.

:rangers:canes

6th Seed: Carolina Hurricanes 36-25-5 (81)
11th Seed: New York Rangers 37-28-5 (79)

Regular Season Series vs. Canes: 3-0

ROUND ROBIN RULES:
Regular overtime and shootout rules.

Phase TWO: June, (voluntary training camp) July for Training Camp (mandatory). Bettman stated SCF could wind up finishing by fall. So we have a long while to prepare. And I'm glad we have something to look forward for this summer.

Well, boys, we're back in the playoffs one way or another.

Good chance to figure out who's ready to play NHL hockey and who isn't.

Needs to be a meritocracy lineup.

The whole process skews towards younger players (not an issue for the Rangers), who can rev up their bodies without having needed to be so discipline during the break. A guy like Marc Staal is Tin Man right now unless he maintained his eating, stretching, and workouts. I think older teams are going to underperform this playoff.

Cool, I was wondering about exhibition games.

28 skaters, hmm?

Panarin, Zibanejad, Strome, Buchnevich, Kreider, Fast, Chytil, Kakko, Howden, Lemieux, McKegg, Di Giuseppe, Gauthier, Haley, Gettinger, Nieves, Fogarty
DeAngelo, Fox, Trouba, Lindgren, Staal, Smith, Hajek

That's 24 skaters who have played in at least 1 game with the big club this year, not including Andersson.

Lettieri, Kravtsov, Lias, Raddysh?

But that leaves 20F 8D which doesn't seem right.

They should also carry Lettieri, who at least has some experience, and O'Regan. Maybe Raddysh on merit.

They have over a month to get ready. I think they will be fine.

I'd think they'd want another D in there. It's possible that D would be a guy who is currently in North America (by the player's choice). Not sure where Ebert is, but Rykov is likely back home. LoVerde would be a possibility.

I'm not sure which forward I would leave out in that case.

One of the reasons for the ambiguity in what the first series is being called has to do with television rights. The NHL holds all television rights for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. I was told the NHL wants to assign the “qualifying round” TV rights to the teams to help fulfill their local TV obligations. It has a lot of sponsor and financial implications.

I'll be drinking like they're playoff games and that's what really matters.

Gonna be good to hear Sam and Joe again for 3 games.

Carolina plays a smart, disciplined and hard game. It's a team that can roll 4 lines and that's a big deal. Brind'amour is also one of the best coaches in the league. I don't like their goaltending though. Last I knew Dougie Hamilton had a very serious knee injury--I'm wondering if he'll be healthy.

You never know in a short series but I think are goaltending is clearly superior to theirs. Aho is a great player and Svechnikov is a young stud but IMO Panarin and Zibanejad are better again and one of Mrazek or Reimer is really going to have to overachieve.

Hamilton is fine. Vatanen is fine as well. Pesce is not.

Yes. I support this notion for playoff avatar. Now to find the old recommendations we had previously discussed this past season...

We have to put everyone’s head on Panarin’s kick and use ready to kick some ass

My understanding is that Hamilton (and Vatanen) will be available to play, but Pesce might not be.

Pesce had shoulder surgery March 5 that came with a 4-6 month recovery time. That basically means he could be back in time for the qualifier or he could need the Canes to win a round or two. The guys on the Canes board seem to be counting him out for our series.

You guys are a really good up and coming team. I think this has the makings of the best qualifying round match up. It will be interesting to see if our blue line can contain your high octane offense. Good luck but not too much and no injuries on either side.
Rangers in 3, we all know it.

Haha but seriously it should be a good series.
