Is there a rule in the Quebec league against a club flying to games? Can’t see a club in Newfoundland being part of that league without air travel for them and teams visiting.

Nice to see St. John's get another team. Hopefully they've figured out the travel issues. I know private jets are much cheaper, now, but it's still a drain on the bottom line for whomever is footing the bill.

ETA: I do wonder if, because the travel to Acadie-Bathurst is pretty long, that the travel costs would end up being fairly even.

I don't think so. Halifax flew to Ottawa for their recent road trip then bused from there.

I think teams fly during the playoffs as well. Especially in the semi finals and finals when they start to play teams outside of their division.

I don’t follow the QMJHL but will they be called the seadogs and everything
The Seadogs already exist in St. John, New Brunswick. They used to be called the Fog Devils when they were last in the QMJHL. Otherwise they've had AHL teams there.

ETA:

And yes....it would be St. John vs St. John's. LOL. Fooled me for the longest time when I was living in Halifax and was a season ticket holder for the Mooseheads

People already mentioned that Mile One Centre's ownership is a reactionary group who believes they can jack up rent prices and have teams bend to their whims due to being the only suitable arena on the Rock. What makes a Q team any different in this regard from the IceCaps or Growlers who left for those very reasons?

They won the memorial cup a few years ago right? I remember them being proud of being the smallest market in junior hockey part of it

St. John's Fog Devils only existed from 2005-2008 sandwiched in between Toronto's AHL team and Winnipeg's AHL Team.

You are thinking of the St. John Sea Dogs.

And yes...it's very confusing.

St. John, New Brunswick

St. John's, Newfoundland

Yes in 2018. Noah Dobson was their star player.

The Fog Devils had a Flyers prospect in net so I do remember that. I think Huberdeau was on that team?
Huberdeau was on the Saint John Sea Dogs.

Jake Allen played for St. John's.

And Huberdeau played with St. John in their Mem Cup year of 2011.

In the finals, they actually fly together on the same plane/charter.

Not that it’s any less confusing but the city is actually spelled Saint John, NB.

Sorry to correct, just a pet peeve of mine.

LOL...right?

No worries about the correction. I keep forgetting myself. Been too long since I lived in Canada. Wish I could go back, but not in the cards.

St. John's, Newfoundland

I thought it was a thing that to reduce confusion the city in New Brunswick was trying to encourage people to spell it Saint John, whereas the city in Newfoundland was St. John's.
