Sign Pacioretty as a UFA tell him he plays with Matthews & Marner. Patch has 6 seasons of 30 + goals with a respectable 50 pts ( 25G & 25 A ) in 78 playoff games. Pacioretty is 83rd all-time in GWG with 65 goals he is a clutch player, & if healthy playing with elite players easily scores 20. The type of player the Leafs need in the playoffs same is true of a JVR.
Minten, Rielly, Robertson, Kampf, Jarncrock & a 1st Rd pick in 2026 to Pittsburgh for Crosby. Pittsburgh can immediately flip Kampf & Jarncrock for prospects or picks in a trade.

After trades & retention the Leafs would save approx. 8.5 million, needed cap space to facilitate a trade. Using a pkg. of prospects, picks or a roster player for an elite D man, with Liljegren involved in a trade that would be 11.5 million in cap space, that would facilitate enough cap space for any D man in the league.
