Aho was Finland's best player IMO.

Hard for me to really pinpoint 1 guy on that line. Laine had the incredible shot, Puljujarvi was a bull going to the net, and Aho was the do everything sort of guy (who was a winger playing center). The 3 of them together were pretty magical.

Would be so nice to enjoy that without that noise.

Shouldn't complain though!These guys have a bright future!:handclap:

Has Aho played as a center at some point of his career?

WJC 2016 :sarcasm:

I remember him commenting that it's not new, he did it sometimes randomly in Kärpät juniors too, not often but he's been perfectly nice in that position too thanks to his high IQ.

These two are just unbelievable. I think they have both surpassed Chychrun to put themselves just behind Matthews for 1st overall.

Laine reminds me so much of Kovalchuk. Puljujarvi is harder for me to find a comparable, although I see some young Iginla in him.

I believe the song is attached to the video more because of its lyrics than anything else.... I hope at least. :help:

To me the lyrics were even more facepalm worthy than the music, though. Painful **** that had to be muted to watch the highlights.

Totally OT, but I quite like the melody but can't stand the lyrics filled with patriotic cliches.

Back to topic; this line brought me such joy throughout the tournament. They exceeded even my lofty expectations.

He was just as important as the other 2.

Indeed. That said, the other two are just way more intriguing prospects in comparison. Laine basically pulled the same in-between-legs move on every opponent and it never grew old on us. None of us could hold ill against Puljujärvi for misfiring on the 2-on-1 against Canada, even though I remember thinking it could be the mistake that would cost us the game.

They were so fun to watch that every mistake and every poor decision by either of them were excused and shrugged aside as 17 year olds being 17 year olds.

No offence to Aho but those two wingers were something else in this tournament, was fun to watch.

yeah sure but Aho deserves as much credit as Pulju/Laine. put any other center from the team to that line and the result would have been different.

For sure, I haven't seen talent like that come out of Finland in a long time (Sans Barkov).

Personally though, I felt it was an extremely impressive showing by Aho. He was their #1C. He played PP, and he played PK. He played on the point on the powerplay and was a completely versatile forward. He was a strong forechecker, knew where the puck was going to be, and impressed me in every aspect. He's just so smart. He won big faceoffs to set up goals, and he dug the puck out of the corner to get it to the kids, and most of all - he scored clutch goals. Players with his hockey IQ don't come around very often, the ability to be useful in any position. He reminds me of a rich man's Jussi Jokinen, and that would be a hell of a player.

Just looking at his junior resume you can see how successful he's been, already won the Liiga, and now a U-20 gold to go on top of his U-18 silver. People talk about late birthdays for the twins, Aho missed the 2016 draft by a month and a half. He was one of the younger kids in his draft. Personally I'm just as intrigued on the kid as the twins. He's putting up Granlund and TT numbers up in the Liiga, and his top lines production ceased when he went down with an injury.
