Brian Murray in press conference announced this

Bryan Murray confirms that Matt Puempel has been recalled from Binghamton.

Oh Good! :handclap: I like Puempel & hope he does well up here to end the season but man he has to stay injury free for a while. I hope they call up Robinson too soon & give Chiasson a much needed rest. :sarcasm:

This is a big opportunity for him right here. Will likely (well... in theory) get some quality minutes, especially if Griz stays out of the lineup down the stretch. They moved out Prince for him - time to show everyone they made the right call.

Better show something.

Why? Not his fault Prince as traded, he's also coming off an injury & missing 9 games. I don't expect too much if he plays tomorrow night but hope for the best. Does he get the same sympathy if he is playing on the 4th line that Prince was getting from people?

Didn't mention anything about Prince.

Did you just question why he needs to show something?

He's useless if he's not scoring. That's why he better be somewhere in the top 9 and not glued to chris neil. I'd like to see him with one of our top playmaking forwards. With one or two of stone,ryan,hoffman,zibanejad...or else it's pointless.

Can play on any line. Potentially. Hopefully he finds the offence quick for his confidence.

No he's not, he hits & has started playing very well away from the puck, is what Luke Richardson said about him earlier when he was first called up. He's a callup, it's much more likely he will start on the 4th line & will have to earn his ice time & any promotion to a higher line I would think. But at the same time, it wouldn't surprise me if he is responsible defensively if DC does decide to put him on a scoring line to see if he can score at this level for a few shifts, the jury is probably still out on him until he proves otherwise.

Just because he's big doesn't mean he's good away from the puck. He's bad defensively. He should show why he was drafted in the 1st round and score some damn goals

I think that ship has sailed. I think he's more likely to be a solid 3rd line winger at this point.

Who said anything about him being big, I know recently it was stated that he was 6'2" but I saw him at the development camp over the summer & he looks to be more like 6', unless he has grown since then. Luke was the guy who mentioned he was very much improved defensively & when he has been called up DC played him & they kept him over Prince which tells me that he must be better defensively if this coach is playing him a lot. But I do agree with you that they drafted him because he is supposedly a sniper & I too would love to see that come to fruition & him start scoring with some regularity.

Insurance in case MacArthur isn't ready? Prince wasn't playing so him getting traded isn't likely to triggered the call-up.

I've liked what I've seen out of Puempel, especially during the run last year before he got hurt.

I'm hoping he can take the next step soon: the team is playing better and there's still a hole on LW as long as MacArthur isn't back. Seize the day kid!

I thought he was really good down the stretch last year, so I expect some good things.

EDIT: Or was it the year before...

This is our big trade deadline move and I have faith its going to work out marvelously.

Turris is out so Paul moves to center with Mac and Puempel coming into LW positions.

Oh right

Good call, I forgot about Turris getting shut down

He was real solid during the Playoff Run last year but he got hurt (high ankle sprain I believe)

Puemple needs to show some things here ,he has to earn the trust of the coach and do the little things in the dzone first before worring about offense
