Keep in mind this was written by a bitter Vancouver fan

(Ed. Note: As the Stanley Cup Playoffs continue, we’re bound to lose some friends along the journey. We’ve asked for these losers, gone but not forgotten, to be eulogized by the people who knew the teams best: The bloggers and fans who hated them the most. Here is Nathan Caddell, a Vancouver Canucks fan and journalist, fondly recalling the 2016-17 Boston Bruins.)

He is not kind to Sweeney

Say what you will about Loui Eriksson’s season, but signing a guy a year older than him who can’t play the style of hockey that made him effective for the same amount of money per year does not constitute progress

Neither does signing Matt Beleskey for two more years than goals scored this season.

Consider the source, but the bolder line hits a little too close to home.

It’s a strange feeling. I distinctly remember the Bruins being good. But it’s starting to feel like awhile ago now.

I hear guys like Pierre MaGuire talk about how stacked the Bruins' system is, but in the meantime, the core is still aging and it doesn't feel like there will be enough overlap to constitute a contending window.

There's work to be done and IMO the last thing they should do is get complacent and feel overly good after their run to make the playoffs. Nice little story and all, but the prospect of them settling for just being competitive is scary.

All I gather from this is an uneducated college intern with little hockey knowledge is still jealous of 2011.

Lol, waiting til the end of the article to claim the Rome hit on Horton was clean is pretty pathetic, unless I just missed the sarcasm.

It sure makes sense to have a piece about the Bruins written by a sour Vancouver fan, it's most definitely going to be neutral and sane. Not.

They lost 3 overtime games and the other 1-0 in game they got a goal over turned

Missing

1. Best offensive defenseman
2. Two of their top two PK d men (#1 rated)
3. Three of top 4 D out
4. Second line center and third leading season point and leading playoff goal and point performance

They sweep Ottawa healthy

The defense was a trainwreck?

The defense was STUNNINGLY good. 2nd-best Even Strength Shots Allowed/60 minutes in the league.

The goaltending after Tuukka? Ehhh... not so much.

I don't like puck daddy either but that's the point of them. The eulogies are written by fans of rival teams

Any Sweeney criticism is fair, even if it has to come from hacks like Puck Daddy, Steve Simmons, Damien Cox or even Fluto

I put their playoff success bt the Bruins teams that lost to the devils in the first round early 2000s and the Bruins teams that lost to MTL first round early 2000's.

Good to know that even though he has his own team to denigrate he worries about the Bruins. I know that the Kanooks are looking just great but it's wonderful of him to try and fix the Bruins problems. For fan of the Kanooks to come here and try to help Don Sweeney straighten out the B's is so charitable...
He sure seems to have Jack Edwards number too, "homerism" starts at home. Jack is paid by NESN to describe to us in colorful terms what he sees our team doing, Vancouver honks beware!
To Nathan Caddell I say this: You're a fan, if you were a "journalist" you would get your facts straight and not write with a bitter edge because it smacks of homerism.

You guys are ridiculous. They do this every year. Bruins writers write them for our rivals teams. Every. Year.

Don't be so sensitive
