It shouldn't take stories like this to keep us focused on what's important in life and all that we have to be thankful for. Sometimes it's easy for us to start feeling bad for ourselves because we're having a bad day or the job market sucks.

Then you read something like this and it puts everything into perspective. Thanks for posting!

What an amazing and powerful story. It really tugs on the heart strings and makes you count your blessings. This young man has just become an instant favorite for me. He has it together and figured out.

Thanks for sharing the link.

I enjoy reading his blog. The kid's got a good perspective on life, he's working on all aspects, physical, mental and emotional. Good for him.

That man is a very gifted writer. Great story and having a 5 month old of my own did not make it an easy read to say the least. Gotta love that pay it forward part as well. 5 simple compliments isn't a tough thing for anyone to do on a daily basis.

WOW, awesome stuff. Nice to see an athlete have such a grasp on the big picture of life in a sports world were so used to seeing self promoting, self-centered athletes. Truly not only one of the good guys in hockey but one of the good guys in sports and a truly humble man. Hope to see him get a shot at the big time someday.

This thread did not get enough attention over the rest of the crap.

. If you are excellent every single day, eventually you become that person. You become excellent. The same thing applies to altruism and spreading positivity in the world. If you do one thing every single day to spread positivity or one thing to make someone else's life better, you become that brush stroke that paints a better world

The "power of one" is what it's about. spreading compassion and opening up to that "connectivity" that he talks about.

he got it right. well done young man

You must be the change you want to see in the world.

You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.
