I did. I thought moving him was a mistake when it happened and he's continued to demonstrate to show it was a mistake.
Maybe he matures here, who knows.
Big issue with Miller and the time he was moved was potential cap issues (knew he was up for a new contract soon but his playoff and crunchtime performances were bad) and the fact that he was moved after "the letter" and he straight up gave up on the team after that came out. The performances he put out on the ice after that were just terrible and one of the most blatant "I give up" situations I've ever seen.
I have to think that all fed into the decision to move him, and maybe it's also partly what he needed to wake up a bit.
It was obvious to anyone that Miller was talented and he produced well with the Rangers despite AV's rolling icetime and not quite playing with the most talented players on the team, so I'm not wildly surprised he's doing so well playing with 1st line talented players in Vancouver. Question was always whether he was going to commit to bringing it every day and become the player he could be. Unfortunately with the Rangers he never showed he was ready to do that to the point where a new contract was a no brainer.
Yeah whenever I watched Krav his skating looked good. Not that he's a burner but he always looks smooth. Gauthier has that Kreider burst. I'm a little concerned that Kakko and Laf are very similar in that they are decent but not great skaters, have great hands and playmaking ability. Would like some more variety with our top prospects. Some more speedy snipers, but it seems most teams lack that. Most prospects seem to be the playmaking type, especially the high end centers.
Tough to tell until he's out there against NHL comp but Lafreniere seems to have a better burst than Kakko and is comfortable lugging the puck up the ice in transition whereas that's not Kakko's strong point. For not being an elite speedster, Lafreniere seems to move faster than he looks like his skating would lend itself to.
I also think Kakko, while not having a sniper level shot, could definitely be more of a goal scorer than playmaker if that's what his role is. He may have that kind of "Rick Nash" shot that's not overpowering but tricky and well placed and can score plenty with it
