Before anyone panics, Laval is playing on Wednesday. So Primeau could be sent back to Laval in time for their next game. And even if he isn't sent back down for Wednesday, Laval plays again on Friday. So either he doesn't miss a game or he misses one.

Sure but why didn’t they call Poulin instead?
I think the preference is to leave Primeau in the A the whole year.

Well to be fair it's not like the AHL team is in another city. They are playing their next game in Laval so they are already in Laval. Primeau wont even take the plane. He'll go heat the bench in Montreal for one night and then go back home and play the next game in Laval Wednesday.

Anyone thinking it will have any impact on his development is out for launch. I don't see the main difference between Primeau spending his monday night in Laval sitting on his couch playing video games or watching some football and Primeau sitting on a bench in Montreal watching a hockey game.

Beside spending a full year in the AHL is overrated. People need to stop trying to find any causality-effect relationship in how bad our development has been and the amount of time the kids spent in the AHL. Detroit is known for giving around 10 NHL games every season to their not NHL ready top prospects playing in the AHL.

I'd easily argue if you keep a kid in the AHL a full season he wont know what he has to improve and where he is in his development. It's not a bad thing at all to give a few NHL games to your prospect you believe in every seasons. What we must stop doing is throw our prospect under the bus when they take 2-3 years to develop and keep working with them on what they must improve.

For one, his parents are still alive, so the money is not his.

Also, winning your own money is very nice, whether your parents are rich or not.
Obviously. ‘Twas but a tongue in cheek comment. I should have used an emoji, I guess.

Could also be they left him a trust fund to use as he pleases, if we’re going to get into endless speculations.

Does Primeau have to go through waivers?

One more year. It's 4 years for goalies. 3 for skaters.

No longer waiver exempt September 2024.

I'm sure that's why Montreal signed him to a multi-year contract. He makes $800,000 next year & $1.1m in 2024-2025. All one way. I'm sure they're hoping if they put him through waivers next year he'll clear due to the $1.1m in year 3.

Don't think that'll matter for majority of teams. If they want him, he'll be gone on waivers.

One of Primeau or Montembeault will be on waivers next September.
