With Miller, Evans, and Granlund already off the board Brock Nelson is far and away the best C available (maybe) at the deadline. With reports of multiple teams with a first on the table for Scott Laughton, what do we now think Nelson’s value is at the deadline?

Also interested in hearing from Devils and Wild fans; do you think your teams more or less likely to add after the injuries to Eriksson Ek and Hughes?

seravalli on DFO said wild are unlikely to make a big move at the deadline today, dreger has mentioned the jets being interested in nelson 3 different times today

1st and prospect has been what I’ve been suspecting from the start. Prospect quality however will probably increase if Lou plays hardball properly.

So many teams have spent such considerable amounts of their future.

It will be interesting to see how far an offer can possibly go. An auction can only go as high as the last failing bidders bank account. I don’t know that the firepower exists to push the offer beyond the norm.

I'm going to Laugh at whoever pays a 1st for Laughton

Avs should be all over this. But will they be? Probably not.
“…[GM Chris] MacFarland is also weighing his options and could enter the rental market if the right opportunity arises. One player the Avalanche are believed to have interest is in New York Islanders center Brock Nelson, who has also drawn serious interest from the Dallas Stars and Winnipeg Jets, among others.”

Don't know how reliable Pagnotta is though...

Yes, Avs are often linked to guys with nothing happening. Half the time it’s probably a ploy to drive up the price for someone else.

Devils fans, is Fitzy dumb enough to trade Gritsyuk within the division?

Isles fans have somewhat of a sordid relationship with Pagnotta lol. Not sure how accurate he usually is but he had a big swing and miss on the Kadri deal.

The Wild have to move money out for any dollar figure coming in as they are expecting all of Kaprizov, JEE, and Brodin back before the playoffs. Don’t see how Nelson (or any other players that carry reasonable contracts) are options for the Wild by end of day Friday.

Russo mentioned today that the Wild moved on Nyquist when they did because they did not get the complete sense that Lou was going to go through with trading Nelson and needed to make some sort of add given their injury situation. Essentially not wanting to get left holding the bag on whether Lou would move Nelson at all or if they could come to a deal.

I could believe we're targeting Nelson. He's everything our scouts like. Old, fast, and expiring.

Stylistically, he’s a great fit. But MacFarland is notoriously cheap. Being cheap has been costly though and he might have to bite the bullet on someone. It’s kind of an all in move.
