Not bold enough? Sorry.

Jeannot scoring 30 goals doesn't seem all that bold anymore... :sarcasm:

Maybe it is bolder these days to predict regressions for some of these guys! :sarcasm:

I don't really want to be the guy who is cynical/evil enough to actually make negative/regressive bold predictions about our team. But some little voice in the back of my head reminds me that Duchene was truly bad/dumb for us at first, that Granlund was AWOL, that McDonagh was given away by his last team, that Jeannot was never any kind of prospect whatsoever in terms of pedigree until he mysteriously boot-strapped himself into the NHL... it wouldn't be impossible for somebody to come up with bold/evil predictions, I suppose. But I wouldn't actually do it.

I'll go with another bold one:

Trenin scores more goals than Jeannot
Hm, well I'm not sure if it would be totally impossible if Trenin had endeared himself to the organization and signed a long-term team-friendly contract and the whole 3rd line was being kept intact with no PP time, and... Jeannot missed 20-40 games with an injury...

But ok, bold or... ? :naughty:

And I really like Trenin a lot.

I'd say this is less crazy than my Glass bold prediction. If we combine regular season and playoffs Trenin had 20 goals to Jeannot's 24 goals so he wasn't that too far behind. Trenin also had a much lower shooting percentage so you would think that may be a bit more sustainable.

Well, if you want to stack it against your Glass prediction... ok! :naughty: I will actually be interested in seeing how the Trenin-Preds relationship progresses anyway. I really like Trenin and agree that he has a lot of upside still. He was maybe our best player in the playoffs. I can see him scoring 20+ even with somewhat dismal utilization. While being a tank out there. But I also won't be entirely surprised if he gets a little marginalized and sidelined given the seeming relationship issues. :dunno:

Related predictions:
• The Predators power play will at least maintain its effectiveness from last year and should exceed it's output due to...
• Jeannot will get a long look as a net-front presence on the PP which will increase his ice time and add 6-8 goals to his overall total (roughly 30 goal season, give or take)...
• The continued effectiveness of the PP will help at least one of Forsberg and Duchene reach the 40 goal plateau again, and both will reach 30 goals.
• Finally, the second PP unit will chip in a bit more this year. There are enough new players (Nino, McDonagh, Glass) or players that should experience year-over-year growth/opportunity (Tomasino, Jeannot, and Tolvanen) that two effective units are possible.

(injuries notwithstanding)

I’m going to call mine stupid predictions:
- Saros unfortunately gets injured again. Askarov finishes the season as a Pred.
- We are on the bubble at the trade deadline and this board has way too many posts about trading for Kane (which we don’t do although Poile thinks real hard about it).
- We somehow squeak into the playoffs and get bounced in the 1st, again. This may not be stupid.
- David Poile takes a step back at the end of the season. Senior Emeritus GM or something.
- My season tickets still get a lot more expensive (that’s definitely NOT a stupid prediction)

In reality, I’m very much looking forward to this season.
