Hawks and Penguins in back to back nights at LCA?

The entire building will be in need of a deep clean scrubbing after both of those disgusting, wretched, dirty, scumbag franchises brought their foul stench in there.

I hate both if it was blatantly obvious.
Scored tickets to tonight from a friend. Would have been great to see Danielson, but excited to get a glimpse of Kasper and MBN (and hopefully Cossa).

And yes, I completely agree with the above. Hopefully Detroit wipes the floor with the Penguins before they thoroughly disinfect the arena. :D

Game will be streamed on ESPN, finally

It won't be on ESPN. Only streaming on Detroit and Pittsburgh respective websites. You'll need either a Michigan or Pennsylvania IP address to watch the game as they are geolocked. I am getting the free trial at SurfShark to watch the game tonight.

Wallinder getting back to back games is a big deal. They’re treating him like someone who’s going to play a whole lot of important minutes in GR this season. He and Tuomisto have both impressed at camp.

I’m on record saying I think Wallinder is gonna be the big prospect they ultimately trade to upgrade that blue line, but hopefully this isn’t any type of showcasing just yet, because if he’s turned a big enough corner, why trade him? Still though, he’s likely the player most teams will be asking about. Most NHL teams simply don’t have a Wallinder type Dman in their system. So it’s even more rare for a team to trade a prospect like him, because the upside is just too high. Unfortunately they have too many young Dmen who are gonna hit within a 2 year time frame. It’s why they weren’t devastated trading Gibson for Kiiskinen either. It’s also why nobody should be surprised if Lombardi isn’t a player other teams really start asking about from a forward perspective, knowing Detroit has a bunch of kids on the same timeline.

Still haven’t seen Becher or Buium, which isn’t good news. Especially for Becher because they still don’t know where he’s gonna play this year. Sending him back to Juniors is probably a waste, but he’s also not under contract yet.

Still think he may start the season in Toledo on loan, but like a Tuomisto last season, if he’s good enough, he’ll be in Grand Rapids rather quickly, and would likely get his ELC by Xmas. If he’s sent back to the WHL, he’s just going to be an over dominating player. You’d much rather him being challenged, every night. The only reason I could see him sent back? To play C every night. Last year, most of his success came when they moved him to the wing. So if he is sent back, good bet it’s to have him play C every night and become a dominant C before turning pro.

Real big game for Rychlovsky. Likely gonna see a boatload of ice time for Albert Johansson too. A little surprised Finnie isn’t in the lineup before being sent back to Juniors, and Doucett still hasn’t been in a game yet. So he has to be a little disappointed cause he’s had a good camp. Just not sure its been good enough to be in GR’s lineup consistently yet, with how many ELC players they have in GR. Like Becher and Gylander, he’s a victim in a sense, of how many ELC players the Griffins have this season. It’s great for the wings because it shows how deep their system is, but sometimes some good players get lost in the shuffle.

Should be an interesting night for some guys. Like to see Kasper play with Kane and MBN some too.

Ya I've been wondering about Becher and where he'll end up. He's only had two WHL seasons so maybe there's a benefit to going down to juniors again, but it would be nice to see him in Grand Rapids. I would hope he's too good for the ECHL.

I’m not one to ever say it’s a bad thing for a 20 year old playing a season or less in the ECHL. Especially under the circumstances. You don’t wanna send him to Europe. St Louis has a similar problem with their Top 10 pick last year, who dominates Juniors but has had a heck of a time even fitting in with men. Dvorsky is gonna start in the AHL but if he struggles like he did in the SHL last year before they sent him to juniors, what do they do with him but Juniors or the ECHL? Probably the ECHL because he’s just going to dominate against even younger kids this year. With Becher, we just don’t know how he’s gonna play against older players yet. I won’t be surprised if he fits in immediately. That’s why this injury sucks so much.

Becher has two things Doucett doesn’t. Quickness and he thinks the game at a high level. I don’t think he’d be in the ECHL very long. I know lots of fans think it’s some sort of bad thing but if it helps a kid get to the NHL quicker, why not? Like I said earlier, most teams he’d be penciled into their AHL lineup. The Wings are just so deep with ELC players already.

If he gets sent back to Juniors, it be nice if they can facilitate a trade with Kamloops and have him play with Finnie a lot, playing C instead of wing. Becher’s big coming out party was when PG moved him to the wing and he had less responsibilities. He was so committed to learning to play C in North America, he didn’t have time to show his offensive ability. When they moved him to wing, all that responsibility came natural to him, but the extra time he had not thinking about his C responsibilities, allowed him to prosper.

I know the Wings see him as a C though. Or they’d at least like to. So like I said, if that’s the case, then maybe going back to Junior isn’t the worst thing in the world. Just don’t think that’s gonna happen in Prince George. Portland might be a good fit too. I’d like to see him in Kamloops though. With Finnie, assuming Finnie stays there. There’s been speculation he might be headed to Medicine Hat, who’s stacked. There’s a few teams I could see Becher playing C with though, so we’ll see. He’s very talented. Just has to put it all together vs elite talent. Just like any other 20 year old.

I hope Becher goes to Toledo, playing one season next to Brandon Hawkings is not the worst idea. Big minutes and playing next to a high scoring player should help him score and gain his confidence for AHL games.
