Ersson tracked the puck incredibly well today. Pleasant surprise for his first pre-season game.

Michkov was much more engaged today, not to say he wasn't very good in the first game.

None of the bubble guys outside of Andrae impressed again. Ginning was the worst player in orange and black.

How? He's always been a meat and potatoes guy. Is he five dimensional meat and potatoes from the future?

Michkov is really special. He is going to be truly amazing as he matures. Has that second instant gear the great ones have. Smooth skating and then boom, instant acceleration to a puck. That's rare. Also blind passes Gretzky style. We have our star,

Ersson was excellent.

I see possibility all around.

Ersson was the same player he was until he was ground into the ice (when the alternative is Peterson . . . reminds me of Mauch overworking Bunning and Short in '64).

The battle the next few years will be for #2, Fedotov gets first shot.

Michkov is as advertised, give him 2-3 years to mature and he'll be a 100 point forward.

Luchanko is interesting, right now he looks like a solid bottom six center, then you realize he just turned 18 and that's actually pretty impressive. He could play in the NHL right now, and be fairly productive with decent wings. Of course, the Flyers don't need another bottom six center which is why he should be headed back to the CHL. Speed, poise, awareness, passing - but on offense the game is a little fast for him right now. He's filled out a bit but gets knocked down a lot (including an obvious cross check) but what impressed me is how fast he bounces back up.

Ginning is what he's always been, Grans is bad, two organizations and basically no progress since he was drafted - sometimes it's the player. Andrae isn't bad, but he hasn't made a big jump since his NA debut. He's serviceable but no longer looks like a future top 4, because he's getting old enough the future is next season, not three years from now.

Abols is OK, but at his age, that translates to top 6 in LHV. Eklind is a big stiff. Richard is fast but undersized and lacks skill and instincts, you could say the same about Avon, but he's 6'0 and close to 200 at 21 so he has a future as a 4th line forechecker, Richard's future is 3C in LHV.

The reason the lineup is set is no one is stepping up so far to challenge for a job.

You can talk about giving guys a chance, but players on the bubble have to step up and force Briere's hand, not be meh. Just flash something that says we got to see more of that guy.
