Proposal: Preds and Rangers

I keep hearing nyr could stand to love Nash, brassard, Stepan, or whatever salary it takes.

We in Nashville need second line centre and first line winger, I'm not exactly in love with Nash, but here is hoping he can regain his form playing with ryjo and Neal on first line of rangers retain some salary. We need to make a trade because we badly need these two positions filled and we did not get any free agent help.

To preds,
Stepan and Nash (%40 retained)

To Rangers,
Jarnkrok, Wilson, ribeiro, first round pick and Kevin fiala.

Rangers will just hold Nash. Brutal offer.

If the Rangers are taking back Ribeiro while giving Stepan one of your young NHL D men would be coming back.

Land of no calls..
The Rangers have an abundance of middling players as it is. They don't need anymore, let alone at the expense of their best center.

We'd need to at least send Fiala+ 1st back for either/or Nash/Stepan, both won't happen without a major piece going back. It'd be easier for us to get Bozak cheaply and then overpay for Nash if we're going for the cup.

Bozak for 2nd+3rd or whatever

Nash with some retained for 1st, Fiala, roster player/minor prospect

Counter: Nash for Arvidsson, a good prospect (not familiar with your farm outside of Fiala) and a 1st or a 2nd depending on how much we retain.

Gotta love all the people who have no clue, but assume that since Nash is available, he's a salary dump, instead an elite defender with size and first line offense.

And even as a cap dump, the offers are insane bad. The Rangers inevitably retain 30-50% of his salary, then get a waste of a player on an awful contract, so the Rangers pay the same amount to have a scrub role player instead of a star. Great job!

Not just you, all the offers for Nash are the same: the Rangers get a scrub for Nash, while spending the same.

Ok I edited original offer. Better??

Not really because why would you trade a 19 year old with a ton of potential for a guy who is 32 and with his better days behind him? I like Nash and Stepan but not at the cost of Fiala. Fiala fits in with what Poile is trying to build, fast and skilled players. You don't trade him at this point.

Because Fiala, while a blue chip prospect isn't a roster player yet, we do that trade for both Stepan and Nash and we fill both our two biggest needs. The way I see it Poile is all in after the Subban deal.

Would give us a top 6 of

Nash-Johansen-Neal
Forsberg -Stepan- Smith

While still maintaining our defense. That gives us four 60 point forwards and two, or more, 50 point forwards, that's as good a roster as any other team. I don't mind losing a first and a top prospect if we go al the way and we deal with expansion when it comes time to.

No use for Ribeiro. And Wilson we would be buying really high on considering how putrid he was during the regular season. And Wilson, while still relatively young at 26, we need even younger than that.

Nash for Arvidsson, a good young prospect and a 1st or a 2nd depending on how much we retain is more realistic.

I'm on board with that, but would the Rangers really want to be? Avridsson was a pleasant surprise and has a great energy despite his size, but he isn't anything special, in my opinion, if we're being honest.

Get rid of Riberio in the offer and replace him with Jarnkrok and if we retained on Wilson does it look good enough to get both?

Jarnkrok, Wilson(retained), Fiala, 1st for Stepan + Nash(retained) ?

Not enough?

If we were trading Nash the point is to get younger. Arvidsson, whoever that prospect is and the 1st we get fill huge organizational needs.

Stepan is the closest thing we have to a two-way #1c and would rather keep him over Brassard. I guess the value is close though if we were going full rebuild.

And if we move Wilson, Krok and Ribs along with Fiala, who's playing on our third line? Fisher and Arvy and who? Our top 6 as it stands isn't horrible right now, it's our lack of scoring from the third line that has killed us.

To me, add Hudler via free agency. Figure out who amongst Wilson, Fiala or Hudler are a fit with Neal and Joey on the first line and use the other two with Fisher on the third line.

The other option is leaving Neal and Wilson with Fisher on one line. Then you have Ribs centering Smith and Forsberg as that seemed to work. That leaves Joey and Fiala on a line together with a free agent pick up. Hudler or Vrbata could work. Would love to see Doan as well but no way is he leaving Arizona.

If we add hudler on free agency where does he play? He isn't a first line winger to play with ryjo and Neal. And we have second line wingers.

This is absolutely brutal.

Counter: Stepan, Nash (40%) for Fiala, Ellis, Ribeiro (salary cap reasons), 2017 1st and 2018 1st. Then I would consider it.

If you want a top-line 2-way center and a guy capable of scoring 30-40 goals, it will cost you.

Now that we've had a ridiculous proposal from either side, let's negotiate and end somewhere in the middle.
