Seems a lot of folks are down on the Blues, after an uninspired scrimmage. I'd go so far as to suspect most people don't have high expectations for the next batch of exhibition games that just so happen determine the playoff seedings. There are 24 possible options. Who amongst us can see the future?

I'm down only because I expected the team to show more swagger or pride going in as defending champs. But maybe they had other objectives for that shitshow against Chicago.

My worry is that they have lost their edge and that even if they fix the D mistakes and turn-overs, their O zone puck management was completely absent in that game. I can't see how they go from what we saw against Chicago to their A game in just a few days. Many are saying that their style is hard checking in the O zone, so when they turn that on things will be different. I hope so.

Looking forward to Berube, Ott, and the vets turning a switch and playing their A game from here on out. Otherwise, next season really isn't too far away and this one was an oddity that will forever have a * by it in the record books.

I haven’t any idea of who they’ll end up playing but I think they’ll go 1-1-1 where they beat Dallas, lose in OT to the Avs, and lose a high scoring game to Vegas late (as seems to be tradition). I feel lots of people are putting way too much stock into a scrimmage after 4 months of not playing competitively.

A poll with this many entries is not useful.

I’ll just say that I think the tiebreakers will matter. I also think both the East and West will have the seeding disrupted by results different than the regular season.

Remember that the Blues were actually 3rd in the division last season when they won it. If a team struggled in the seeding, it’s not a big deal. Similarly, if a team goes 3-0, they’ve won nothing as soon as the next game starts.

All in good fun...simply for bragging rights until Rd. 1 begins.

I wouldn't mind another run from the 3-seed. Home ice advantage will be at an all-time low and it's simply a matter of beating the team placed in front of you. Everyone in the world knows they can win it from any position; it's more like...how much gas will they expel in the next three matchups? And how badly do they want to show the other teams that they're still the top dog.

I still hate the round robin games, there is zero, ZERO reason why Boston, Colorado or the Blues have any business being the fourth seed. They should have don a weighted score... Like Maybe the Aves over take us but no one was anywhere close to Boston

I've had the Avs winning the Central since before the season, and I think had the season played out as normal they would have. So I have them being on top of the round robin. I went with Avs-Blues-Knights-Stars as my pick, although I could see the Stars and Knights being flipped.

ya but who cares. the positioning literally doesnt mean anything other than last change. thats why this playoff year is gonna be pretty stupid. i am glad they are doing it but whoever wins is gonna have a * next to them, especially if one of these shitty qualifier teams makes a run at it.

I agree that Boston shouldn’t have any way to drop its seeding that far. But the seeding means very little. Teams 5-8 are all about the same.

I think the only reason the round robin determines seeding is that the alternative was to make it 3 more exhibition games (which arguably is what they are anyway). Making seeding be on the line makes those games have enough intensity to help the teams prepare. But I won’t be surprised to see a team go 0-3 in the round robin and still make the conference finals.

Yep. The round robin seeding idea isn’t perfect, but there was no perfect solution. It’s the closest thing that makes sense to get these teams prepared instead of remaining ice cold.

Of all the options, I think this is the best one I heard. It doesn’t eliminate teams who were still alive. It creates a lot of interesting TV inventory with an extra round of elimination series. It rewards the top teams by allowing them to avoid any chance of elimination prematurely. And it gives the regular season standings some credit with the tiebreakers. By reseeding every round, they maximized the importance of the 1-4 seeding.

The downside is that home ice advantage means little. Some teams (like Edmonton) got screwed a bit and teams like Chicago and Montreal got a gift). But the upside for us is that we get to see a cool best of 5 series.

If there was a better format option, I didn’t hear it.

Slot me into the group that thinks we'll be 3rd. It just feels like that's what's going to happen, not sure why.

I just hope we avoid 4th/Edmonton round 1, as others have said.

Went with Avs-Knights-Blues-Stars

I voted 4th...with the Stars imploding we might actually finish 3rd. Who knows?

As long as we get to our A game and battle speed with NO INJURIES by round #1, I'll be happy.
