I think the point is that they would rather see him stay and develop as opposed to getting another 3rd round pick.I mean, I think he's a comparable player to Drew O'Conner at the moment. I think DOC's value is right around a third.
I wonder if that means Barry would like to talk to his old boss Lou and make something happen. Old people are the Islanders current make up.They want the team average to be over 30 years and under 20 points.
Which is interesting since Trotz was a really good coach and if somebody told me he was "a smart hockey man", as the cliche goes, I would have totally believed it. It turns out, however, he is truly clueless at this GMing thing. Not that i think Parssinen is really anything to write home about, but it's very much looking like hiring a coach to just take over as GM was in fact, a bad idea with pretty dire consequences.

I would go as far as maybe Washington knew what they were doing when they let him go. The man does not understand much about actually developing the roster. We can also remind ourselves Nashville didn't have real 1st line forwards for what seemed like decades at the time during his HC tenure.
I doubt we get anything as good as a 2nd. We'll dump him like we did Fabbro and Tomasino.A team will take him for a 2nd or a 3rd + a prospect. Then the new team plays him as a center and he breaks out.
