Leafs lose their 2 best prospects up front for a UFA?

Forsberg at 50% is probably worth something like that but for the leafs its not worth it

The current needs to prove that they can win some rounds in the playoffs before the leafs spend more of the future on this team

Maybe if Forsberg was signed for 3 or 4 more years. But Toronto's top 2 forward prospects for a pending UFA is a disaster.

I love Forsberg. But this is an easy pass.

you would have to look at it as the help Forsberg would give and the fact it would create

it would also free up space for next year to extend Campbell

We may get around to selling off Forsberg, who knows. Robertson and Amirov are good, but not necessarily super-exciting. For sure we can easily retain if we do get to that point, to add value to us in the deal.

But I think we better just hold off and wait and see if Preds will even be sellers. And if so, well, the floor will be open to see if any other team wants to offer some prospect or pick that is a little sexier than Robertson or Amirov.

If we traded Forsberg as a rental, we would be dumb to pass on this. The only offer that would be more appealing is a single high end prospect for Forsberg in a 1 for 1, but generally prospects of that level aren't moved....unless you have a Martin Erat level player.

I'd take it if the Preds are selling, which probably means the Leafs shouldn't do it.

even if the value was fair (not saying one way or another) Toronto doesn’t have the cap to extend Forsberg. So trading their top two prospects would be a non-starter
