Who can we expect to see get longer looks at these games ? Barron would be an obvious choice and Lundkvist .....but after those two guys who else gets some attention ? Do Schneider-Robertson-Jones all get more than one game ? Are there any deserving forwards from our Euro picks who deserve a look and who could be a sleeper guy that nobody is talking much about ? What about goalies....anyone pushing KK and George ? What about the big boys in the system ...will any dress against Isles in these games ?

Among the Europeans the under the radar player would probably be Pajuniemi. I don't expect him to do much, but that's the thing--he comes with relatively little fanfare but probably has the best shot of making noise. Henriksson is there, but everyone knows my feelings on him.

All the D mentioned probably get a couple games unless they look terrible.

There will probably be a guy from the CHL that sticks around for a bit because they like what he's showing. Someone like Cuylle or Grubbe just as examples. Guys that have no real shot at making the team but would be there for experience.

Then you get into the older circuit of guys like Reunanen and Gettinger, maybe this is the year they actually seize an opportunity. Maybe Justin Richards sticks because they like his versatility.

I don't know, I know it's the cop-out answer, but it's just too early to know. Evey year there are guys we are hoping will step up that totally fall flat and then guys that most of us had written off that have a strong showing. Will be fun to see.

These forwards should make the team—Panarin, Zibanejad, Lafreniere, Kakko, Kreider, Strome, Chytil, Goodrow, Kravtsov, Blais, Rooney and Reaves (12). I expect Gauthier, Hunt, Barron to fight it out for the one or two forward positions left and McKegg, Gettinger and Brodzinski to get looks and perhaps Richards, Khodorenko, Ronning and Pajuniemi.

On D—Fox, Trouba, Lindgren, Miller and Nemeth are locks with Lundkvist, Schneider, Tinordi, Hajek, Jones, Robertson, Bitetto and Reunanen fighting it out for the last two spots.

That’s 22 forwards and 13 D—pretty close to two full squads.

I wouldn’t put millers name in pen. If he struggled as bad as he did at the end of last year he could see AHL time. It wouldnt be the worst for him either. His decision making was pretty horrendous but his athleticism allowed him to fet away with things.

i think him and jones could be battling for a spot to start with nemeth locked in at the third spot. Both could be shuttled up and down depending on play.

Miller made first rookie all star team last year. I’d be very surprised if he didn’t make the team. The end of last year was a shitshow with both Trouba and Lindgren out. Miller is raw but he has size, speed, reach, recovery capability.

Barron, Ronning and Brodzinski were all point a game players in Hartford last year. Gettinger in 23 games had 9 goal, 10 assists and two fights.

he started his slide well before injuries to trouba and lindgren. His athleticism is great allowing him to recover sometimes. Again not saying he will be in the AHL, but inwould not be surprised either. Especially is jones has astrong camp

He started last season incredibly strong. Interestingly, his decision making was a huge part of it. I hope that’s the guy we get this year, and there’s at least some logic behind expecting that since he came from college and the schedule change tends to grind down a college player before long

and got beat up in both fights. big guys that can't fight are useless.

His first fight was against Providence’s Nick Woolf. It’s not on YouTube or Hockeyfights and you weren’t there because there was no attendance—so I would call BS on that. The second fight was against Parker Wotherspoon of Bridgeport. That is on Hockeyfights. At best for Wotherspoon that is a draw. They both landed punches but Gettinger was manhandling him at the end.

General agree.

one thing to note:
If Nemeth = 3LD there are 2 ways to go...
give Jones max mins at the A.

Or, have him as 7th D [plays either side]
AND
since that is not enuf mins,
see about giving him some mins at 3RW [Kreider at 3LW].

That second strategy suggests max his NHL exposure and experience, showcase his offensive playmaker skills, and then move for a high return.

Such an outside the box move may be passed over, but if Jones is at the A it will take away from others' minutes and it will delay when Jones ultimately gets peddled [which is certain since Jones skill set mirrors Fox and others offer tuffness (Robertson, Schneider) or other desirables [shot for PP] (Nils L).

Cuylie will lose the numbers game this time around but will look to advance himself when injury arises.
