I looked at Jets roster and it's hard to call their roster more talented than Habs'. Save for their goalie. What is that they did in last 2 years to turn it around without going through the rebuild?

Added scorers in Vilardi & Perfetti. Got rid of Wheeler who created a toxic atmosphere then made hard worker, tough guy Lowry captain. Also saw internal improvements from Morrissey & Samberg on D. Shit-filet had bit of an attitude readjustment with new coach, new captain.

Still have strong goaltending, too. At least in regular season. We'll see what happens in playoffs.

A juicy story about Laine when he was with the Jets, as recounted in the Jeff Marek & Greg Wyshynski podcast, here from the 44:02 mark:

Apparently, Laine went through a lot of big screen TVs whenever he was on the road. 💀

If Pezz sits tomorrow night it’s a complete joke. I’m not saying Pezz is a great player, better than whoever they sit, or will make one difference in the game. He is a bit player at best.

However, he works his ass off and will go thru a wall for this team. After a 9-2 loss where many decided to quit and mail it in, if he is not in the lineup it shows MSL holds no one accountable except Pezz and Wifi.

The Jets had only one player under 6 ft (Cole Perfetti) until they called up Chibrikov (who has two goals and an assist in two games). The Habs have 5 players under 6 ft in the lineup although that includes their top three scorers.

Scratch the stupid Donkey and Dvorak. Two overpaid losers who brings nothing. Gallagher is having a decent season but he’s quickly regressing and not far behind either.

Anderson has been much better this year. No issue with him so far
Let's be honest, the bar has been dropped so low that anything compared to last season would have been an upgrade.

He's playing with more energy and motivation. He's noticeable on the ice and his fight was nice but he's still not producing and he still keeps missing countless scoring opportunities.

At his current pace we are looking at another sub 20 points season. Maybe if he was paid like a 4th liner I could appreciate his contribution but I cannot overlook his contract.

At least a few years ago he was a 30 points player, we aren't even getting that no more.

He still accomplishes nothing offensively. His line does not put up points.

Maybe try him with good forwards like Suzuki and Caufield to see what happens if his linemates can actually get open for a pass.

So it’s possible to get better without a full rebuild. Adding pieces. Interesting.

When you have the best goalie in the league you don’t go full rebuild. People forgot this already lol.

It probably helps they’ve never been that bad in last 8 season including this one (their worst season, in that time, they had a .543 record (89 points in 82 games)), plus having one of the best goalies in the world. On the contrary, when Hughes made his first major move as GM, letting Ducharme go, Montreal had 8 wins in 45 games.

Matheson and Barron can have a seat for this one on the blueline.

Up front I’d send a message to Dach, and let Armia ride some pine. Have Pezz draw in, and turn him loose on the Jets. His physicality and energy would bring a much needed boost to the lineup.

No idea why Xhekaj is an option. He’s been our best defender (in the defensive meaning of it) by far lately.
