Looking forward to watching the game. I think Sweden will prevail but I would not be surprised in the least to see Europe Team beat them.

Looking at the rosters, how many from Team Europe would make team Sweden? Kopitar, then... Not even Josi's a lock. They have overperformed though so we'll see.

Well to predict a close low scoring game would not be very shocking.
Sweden should win but it could easily go the other way

Let's not pretend Sweden is team Canada. Several team Europe players are better than some Swedish forwards on the team. 3-4 forwards would make the team IMO. Swedish defense is stacked, but Josi should still make it. Halak would be backup to Lundqvist.

Maybe you're right about the forwards. Not sure Josi would make it though. Would have to fight against OEL for that LH puck moving D spot.

Kopitar, Hossa, Zuccarello and possibly Gaborik would make the Swedish team IMO. And yes, Halak would be a backup. I don't think Josi would make the team, even though OEL has had an average tournament. If Josi was more of a two-way player he probably would've made the team. It's not like Sweden is lacking any elite puck moving defensemen.

Sweden should be favourites to win, but it's one game and anything can happen.

People still seem to underestimate Europe so much.

The team's quality is just about the same as Sweden and it all comes down to a single game where Europe can play without any pressure at all.

Europe has already proven themselves so nobody in their right mind should take them lightly by now.

Kopitar, Chara, Hossa, Gaborik, Zuccarello, Josi, Draisaitl etc in a fantastic team!

But betting sites still thinks Sweden are clear favourites and should win 2 times out of 3 .

I highly doubt that , I would say 55% Sweden and 45% Europe...

If Europe get a good start they got enough experience and star quality to win this ...

I am not saying Europe can't win, but I think it's obvious why Sweden is considered a clear favourite, their defense is on whole another level compared to Europe's.

same could be asked the other way around. any real 1st line forwards or top d pairings? and if, then on bottom 16 teams in NHL.
I bet there is more SC rings on Team Europe side, but yes they are old. Old as the biggest stars on Team Sweden :)
This will be decided by goalies.

Takes some skill to score 80+ points and be a - 2 :) People were discussing if a D man that sucks in D work should be nominated for Norris. The biggest names on Swe D are also the biggest holes.
It is defensive style of forwards why Swe is good at D.

oooh, checking the stats, Karlsson and Ekman-Larsson combined for -4 against Team Europe. What a surprise :)

We have to keep an eye on Draisaitl too, huge talent. The kind of player who are able to turn a game around in his own.

You are embarrassingly ignorant.

If somehow players from bottom 16 teams don't count (for the record, I think that is a bigger blow to team Europe than to Sweden but whatever).

Top pairing/line players of elite teams: Hedman, Strålman, Bäckström, Forsberg.

Hörnqvist and Hagelin played big roles on the Stanley Cup winning team.

Hjalmarsson is arguably the second best defenseman on the best team of the 2010s.

Team Europe is a better team than many give them credit for and Sweden has not yet played up to it's standard but they are still the clear favorite going in to this game.

Edit: According to my calculations you are right about one thing though. Team Europe has 8 (Hossa x 3, Kopitar x 2, Chara, Seidenberg, Gaborik) SC titles compared Sweden's 7 (Hjalmarsson x 3, Krüger x 2, Hörnqvist, Hagelin).

If Sweden's third and fourth lines manage to controll the Kopitar line decently they'll come out on top. Will be a nail biter though. Team Europe have impressed me big time, so far. Hats off.

Go Leftovers! Having one of the gimmick teams, especially the one without the national anthem will be hilarious. So they will only play O Canada if they reach the final? What did they do during the RR?

Sweden, apart from the Russia game, has played really ******. Finland was a snoozefest and what made the last game fun was the kiddies certainly not Sweden. Also no interest in watching Canada cream Sweden once more. Sweden does not play Canada well. Probably because they are a lesser Canada.

Zucarello wouldn't make it since they left Nyqvist off the roster, and with Steen and Zetterberg healthy not a chance. Agree that Josi's role is more than filled, even Klingberg would have a better chance as he's RHD. So, Kopitar and Hossa make team Sweden and that's it.

Zetterberg in his prime > Zucarello

Zetterberg nowdays < Zucarello

Zucarello > Nyqvist

IMO Lundqvist hasn't been great this torney and Halak is at his best. Sweden squashes Team Europe in every other area of the game.

Agree.

1 - 0 Karlsson on PP
1 - 1 Drai off the rush
2 - 1 D. Sedin from Henrik
3 - 1 Eriksson from Sedins on PP
4 - 1 EK off the rush

Why aren't both semis played tonight? Why should Canada/Russia get more rest for the finals than Sweden/Europe?

Not sure who is ignorant. I see a thread in this forum about Swe being 2nd best nation based on what?
Ranking? Nope #5.
Talent? Nope, there is about 100 players I would pick before any of the names above would come into consideration if I should build SC winner.

And how is Sweden favorite in this one? They manage to bore teams to one goal victories.
That is a true team of champs. This game will go either way, but Halak would havw to choke for Sweden to scor emore than 2 goals. Yes, it can happen, but what you people doing on these boards because you won 2 games and lost to juniors, is beyond being ignorant.

Ok, I'll bite. Can you list the 100 players you would take before the first Swede?

The most meaningless and probably less exciting game of the tournament. I bet the arena will be half empty. Only Swedish fans care.
