I did a google search, and tried check the forums here but came up empty.

Is there anywhere that you guys know of that lists teams rosters + salaries pre 05' lockout?

I'm looking for Ottawa specifically, but would love to have access to the all teams.

Thanks.

Good question, this is the best I could find on this site...only shows the total salary figures from 2001 and 2004.

edit: Brodeur saving the day

Darn I was actually looking for what would have been the salaries+Roster during the lockout year.

The USA Today site erroneously lists each player as on a 1 year contract for 03-04 season.

I'm from Ottawa and we were talking about how the lockout hurt us the most. We would have kept Hossa, had Hasek, maybe had some sick rookies in Volchenkov, Kelly+
Still had Chara + Redden ? Or no?

The 04-05 Senators would have had Redden, Chara, Phillips, Pothier, Volchenkov, de Vries as the top six, possibly Schubert as the seventh, with a guy like Todd Simpson brought back (think he was a FA after 2004 though) for depth. Meszaros likely stays with his WHL team as a 19 year old.

Offensively, the Sens had Hossa, Alfredsson, Havlat, Schaefer, Varada, Vermette, Kelly, Smolinski, Spezza, Langfeld, Neil returning from the 03-04 team. Bonk was traded to LA (then to MTL) at the draft, as Spezza would be ready to take his spot on the team. White was gone too. Not sure if the Sens would have tried to bring back Bondra, as I think he was a FA after the 03-04 season. Bochneski would have tried to crack the 04-05 lineup, as well as Patrick Eaves.

Goaltending was Hasek, as Lalime was traded to the Blues, and perhaps Prusek is brought back as a backup, as I think he was a FA after 03-04. I think the Sens keep Emery in Binghamton and if Prusek isn't brought back, they sign a veteran back-up goaltender just in case.

Coaching would have been Bryan Murray, as Martin was fired after losing to Toronto again.

Obviously if there was a season, other changes would have been made, but I think Eugene would have opened up his bank account for the Sens to sign pretty much whoever they needed, as this team was a legitimate Cup contender.

I used to have a copy of the NHLPA's proposed CBA from 2004 which the NHL rejected. If I recall correctly, it had a table for each team with every player's salary (along with their 24% rollback offer). Although it's a tough "what if" since a lot of players were unsigned going into the lockout so who knows how a hypothetical 2004-05 season would have gone. Let me see if I can dig up that pdf, maybe try searching for NHLPA's 2004 offer and see if somebody else archived it?

I thought so as well, feel that the Sens and the Lightning were harmed the most by timing of the cap, and that it was rather artificially low that first year, a negotiated $39 MM. Both teams were peaking at that time in terms of the best mix of overall roster make up and the career trajectory of their key players. Ottawa more so than even Tampa, in my opinion.
