Seems like every year there are at least a few sons of Canadian NHLers on the NTDP.

Jake is the younger one
Jake or Logan? Or is there another brother?
Not gonna lie, saw this exchange and wondered why Jake and Logan Paul were getting brought up on HFBoards

Yes, Hockey is a very nepo-heavy sport. Fairly niche in terms of popularity, extremely expensive to play, and you basically need to be on "the path" right away if you're going to make a high-level Junior league or NCAA, let alone the NHL.

And of course, I'm sure the athletic genes do not hurt. I feel like the number of Brothers, Father-Son combos in the NHL is a lot higher than NBA, NFL and MLB, but I don't have the data on that.

He’d/his OHL team would have to pay what? $50,000? if he wants to leave on his own now, correct?
It was $50k a long time ago, I haven't seen the figure updated in years and years. It could well be much higher than that or even lower, I'm not really sure. Bonney may be able to correct me here but I believe NTDP contracts are only for 1 year so he could still leave after next year

Yeah, I'm not sure what the figure is now. I'd imagine it's higher than $50K by now but probably still not a figure the relevant OHL teams would blink twice at paying (under the table) to a kid's 'advisor' to get them to report.

Last I heard it was 1-year contracts but it's possible they're 2-year contracts again as you very rarely see a player leave after 1-year.

Masun Fleece is probably the biggest 'name' not here. He had some early hype last season but you didn't hear as much about him this season. Stats aren't everything but not surprising as his stats this season are not that impressive.

You think he goes to Vancouver? Probably the best place for him unless he wants to stay on his current path.

No idea. I imagine he might stay at Shattuck next season given his production this season. If he wants to go to the USHL we'll probably see him sign a tender soon, though.

L.J Mooney 5'5
Cullen Potter 5'8

Really ? I thought it was the 2 US super stars for the 2025 draft. Something like Jeremy Wilmer

Do not use EP for measurements. They're not official and we have no idea where they got them from. Those could be years old.

When the team reports to the NTDP their measurements will be released. And those will be accurate unlike EP.

I've seen Mooney live and he was one of the smaller players. Of course he was playing with a year up.

Can't wait to watch and follow this group.

Love Fondrk and Amico and of course Mooney. Then you've got the MN kids... It's an awesome group.

Keep an eye out for Gallant as well. He didn't attend camp because of injury but he'll be in the mix for the top 6

Crazy thing is about this team that looks pretty loaded up front with forwards is none of the top 7 point producers from last years U15 national camp made the team, some weren't even invited to the NTDP camp. A year makes a pretty massive difference in development

I'm not saying certain players may not end up smaller than one would hope. Just that EP measurements aren't a useful source to be making any declarative determinations on players 2025 draft prospects.

Glad to see LJ Mooney made the team. I think a lot of you guys are sleeping on him. He could be a top pick in 2025. Hopefully he ends up around 5’9”.

Insane to see Will Moore listed at 6’3” already.

The 5'5" comes from the line chart app which i guess is inputted by someone at the event or the team? Maybe 5'5" is the height of his own that app or something

At the time of this he was listed at 5'7" on EliteProspects

I imagine those are coming from Rinknet's database, not the NTDP who doesn't do fractional height measurements. No idea how accurate their database is as it's not public. Some camps there have been lineup sheets with measurements from the NTDP that are shared but I haven't seen any this go around.

I'm not saying certain players won't be small. Just that folks should wait until the NTDP officially reports measurements in August to start dissecting their numbers to proffer their opinions on a player's draft status that's 2-3 years away.

If we're to believe those measurements the only thing dumber than the NTDP taking 3 goalies would be if 2 of them were 5'9. I'll believe it when I see it from an official source.

EP is reliable and relies on other sources.

As soon as they get an update, they do.

Some were talking about Mooney and Potter as potential top 5s. The size might be prohibitive.

EP is not reliable. NTDP heights and weights directly from their roster don’t even match what EP has listed.

Its good for stats, but heights/weights are way off
