Lets discuss while Hank and the boys are back on the golfcourse.

Any UFAs or RFAs we are interested in on the market? Will there be any discussions around the league about any players beside Taylor Hall going UFA?

Good post. I think Fast and Lemieux should be back for sure and resign Digisueppe as a 13th forward/injury depth. Sign Lettieri, the times he played he had a lot of energy, good for the AHL team and injury guy. Georgiev back also.

DeAngelo and Strome are tricky. The most i go for Strome is 2 years. He isn't a long term solution and isn't better than anything we had already in the past. Need a good 1-2 punch and he isn't the guy.

DeAngelo is the one who can possibly get us our #2 center but at the same time, how long have we waited for a RD who can score? Fox looks like he can do that too but you can never have too many scoring dmen. If we can get a center like Sam Reinhart back, i do it but if not, i try to keep him and just make it work. When Nils comes up, we will worry about it then.

And regarding UFAs, if we can bring in a cheap veteran center for the 4th line, that's what i would do. It would be really nice if Lias joins this team and becomes our 3rd line center, pushing Howden down to 4

I think we should forget about Lias, somethings really wrong with that kid. And i like what Tony D brings on the ice when hes healthy.. i think he should tone down his attetude and behaviour off the ice though.

Strome might be able to land us a pick after this career year with Panarin, but i agree hes not worth keeping long term.

a veteran center with some leadership abilities thats not to expensive (even if just for a year) might actually be good for the kids. Whos on the free market that might suite this need?

UFAs
Jesper Fast
- bring back if cheap/good term
Greg McKegg - see ya later
Michael Haley - ditto
Matt Beleskey - ditto
Steven Fogarty - Hartford fodder
Vinni Lettieri - Hartford
Danny O'Regan - Hartford
Jean-François Bérubé - meh, unless we have no other options in Hartford.
Nick Ebert - Elite Prospects says he's signed in Sweden...?

RFAs
Ryan Strome
- Can he be signed at a reasonable term/AAV? If yes, then yes. If no, then trade.
Brendan Lemieux - Should be able to be signed for reasonable numbers, no?
Phillip Di Giuseppe - meh. Keep him around for Hartford I guess.
Anthony Deangelo - priority. I'd rather spend money on him than Strome.
Alexandar Georgiev - Shouldn't cost too much.

Doesn't matter if Nick Ebert is signed in Sweden or not. If an NHL team wants him they will take him regardless of contract status.

People here better wake up to the reality of DeAngelo moving to wing. After watching him in this series, I think if that doesn't happen, he's trade bait. Strome was incredibly unimpressive. Howden to me in this series regressed badly. Biggest thing I noticed in this series. is when the Canes defenseman got the puck after a dump in, they got rid of it immediately, not even looking but just throwing it up the boards. Dangerous but nobody on our team took advantage of it Our defense consistently hold the puck, take hits and try to make plays which didn't look very effective. That and the fact this passive PK unit which we have seen for years here sucks.

IMO, Lundkvist made a huge mistake going back to Europe. I think he could have beat TDA out on defense easily because TDA should be a forward. I've said for a while they will draft Schneider if he's there with their highest first rounder. They need to get less offensive on defense and more defensive with size and toughness. Next year Chytil and Howden both better take a huge step up. They looked terrible all series which isn't unexpected but they need to be much better next season. Especially Howden. He's on thin ice in my book.

Agree with all except Strome vs DeAngelo, providing the former can be kept for a reasonable price. DeAngelo is currently worth more in trade to bolster the weakness at forward than he is to the team. With all we have and have coming at D, and how little there is in the forward pipeline, I'd prefer to move him for veteran talent.

If I were going to predict--there will be no AHL, ECHL, NCAA or USHL hockey for the upcoming season. Too dangerous and these leagues depend on gate revenue and don't have the resources to set up a bubble. The United States has no control over the pandemic. Canada is much better but even the CHL leagues will play with considerable risk and may have outbreaks and temporary shutdowns.

I expect when the NHL restarts it will be bubble hockey again or at least for a while and if teams are carrying 30-35 guys they have to find a way to get those spares some ice time--but they'll also need excess player personnel to cover injuries. Some players won't play next year---more will be looking to European leagues and they'll take up some of that slack but there will be limits with European leagues too--they have their own players. But European hockey all in all might be what saves ice hockey during the pandemic. I'm glad Nils Lundkvist decided to remain with Lulea. An exodus of North American players to European leagues--too many to let them all in.

Keep in mind as well if the NHL plays 20-21 in a bubble---there will be 31 teams and not 24. That we're talking months on end of players potentially being separated from wives, girlfriends, parents, siblings, pets and all the problems and issues that come with that and pretty much shuttered alone in their rooms. That all the personnel that support that from coaches and trainers to hotel workers and ice rink employees are going to be part of that at least in some way too. It won't be free and there is going to be no gate revenue or concessions revenue either and that merchandising is likely going to take a major hit.

UFAs
Jesper
"Quickie" Fast - Gone, unfortunate but he'll likely get paid else where. Maybe the economic climate brings him back but I doubt it.
Greg McKegg "With a leg for an arm, and an arm for a leg" - Bye
Michael Haley- Peace Out
Matt
"GTFO" Beleskey - Could you tell someone to gtfo if they were never really here?
Steven Fogarty - Hartford fodder. I'd rather let him walk so he isn't called up and overplayed.
Vinni
"Still on the bus to Hartford" Lettieri - See: Belesky
Danny O'Regan - Really?
Nick
"Who?" Ebert - Really? The Sequel.
Jean-François Bérubé - I'd consider keeping for Expansion Draft Purposes.

RFAs
Ryan
"Panarin-Enabled" Strome - Trade, Trade, Trade. Hes Fools Gold and perhaps there is some stupid team out there willing to make a move for him. Minnesota, Buffalo, Montreal is always looking for a center.
Brendan Lemieux - Keep
Phillip Di Giuseppe - Don't tender
Anthony
"Podcasting and obviously hurt" Deangelo - Keep
Alexandar Georgiev - Trade.

Marc Staal being on this roster next season is a way bigger problem than Hank being here next season.
.

They’re both problems yet, imo, the biggest question is where does this team find a #2 Centerman b/c i’m no fan of Strome long term. I think 2nd line Center is the biggest problem

It's a problem, but at least Hank can still play at an NHL level. Marc, all due respect, cannot anymore.

i think they’re both done. Rangers can hide both on the bench but let’s be honest, it BS. They should both waive their NTC or retire IMO. Respect both but this a rebuild and milking every dime out of the Rangers is obnoxious. Yes, both did a lot for the Rangers but it should be reminded the Rangers did a lot for them too.

I have been watching almost all these play-in games the last few days and what i really find frustrating is how other teams capitalize bigtime on just getting pucks and bodies to the net.. while we struggle to even gain some momentum around the opponents crease.

We have to face it, besides a few players like Kreider, we are midgets.. we dont got any size, and no grit.

a lot of these kids need to fill out while there is some size in the system which isn’t ready.

I don't see either retiring or walking away from their very nice contracts. So I want them traded. Can see the Rangers retaining some of their salary.

Id like to keep Fast and Lemieux. DeAngelo is 1st priority. First time in how long we have an over 50 point dman. Find another way to get a 2C.

Looking at who we had on our 4th line last night. McKegg and DiGiuseppe are seasoned pros but they're both more like tweener or call up players than legit NHL checking forwards. Gauthier may be ready if we're talking about putting him in offensive situations but his overall game is lacking. Carolina puts McGinn and Martinook (legit NHL checkers) on the wing between Geekie. They didn't even play Dzingel who is another legit NHL wing. Losing Fast hurt us a lot and even missing Lemieux the first two games as well. Carolina had the depth and the structure to offset the losses of Hamilton and Pesce. We did not have a replacement anywhere capable of doing what Fast does for us.

Defensively we have a bit of a size issue with DeAngelo, Fox and Lindgren being smaller D. Staal's a declined player and Smith's game is erratic. Hajek is not ready and might never be top 4 worthy.

The Rangers did look really good for the first two periods last night. I also think that this series was valuable for the younger players. You learn from adversity.

i think if a trade was to happen it would have already occurred.

IMO, The last person to look in the mirror and recognize the obvious is the professional athlete.

I know that I am seeing this. I am actually not sure that I am believing that I am seeing this. Just when I thought that I have seen it all.
