I know the 2023 draft hasn‘t even been done yet, but I think that it would be interesting to talk about the 2024 NHL draft.

This thread‘s purpose is to gather all your rankings throughout the next year, so you can see how your views on certain players changed throughout time.

I’ll start off the thread with a top-64 feel free to use it as a baseline for yours.

here are my initial thoughts for the draft. It is a clear top 4 in my opinion, all 4 guys could have a claim at the title by seasons end. Demidov is unlikely because of him being Russian but he is very talented.

if you need a defender, THIS is the class. it is one of the deepest blueline draft I can ever remember. honestly it wouldn’t surprise me if 5 of the top-10 consist of defenders when all is said and done.

I’d like to point out that Norway has never had an NHL draft pick selected higher than 42nd overall, and they have never produced a first round pick. This year the country has 2 of the best prospects the nation has ever produced in Michael Brandsegg Nygard and Stian Solberg who could both be first rounders. It’ll be an interesting storyline to follow moving forward for the nation.

No love for Zeev?
not a big fan of him, I think he’ll be a great college player but I don’t see him being a contributor once he reaches the NHL. He was the guy for a stacked PP unit, but I don’t think he did enough himself to warrant a high selection, someone had to put up numbers - ya’know? Numbers look great, and had me consider him. But decided to go with my gut, he‘s a product of circumstance for me at this point.

I've focused mostly on 2023 at this point but have seen a few U17 tournaments. Of the big dogs, I'd rank them like this, with the first 3 being close and 4 and 5 being close.

1. Eiserman
2. Demidov
3. Celebrini
4. Cattan
5. Helenius

Of the defenseman, I like Jiricek, Hutson, Dickinson, Cristoforo, and Yakemchuk. I haven't seen Levshunov play yet.

At forward I also like Sennecke, Greentree, and Humphreys.

Two of my favorite prospects coming into 2023 were Sale and Yager so if anything I've learned a lot can change in a year.

Shaping up to be a solid draft IMO.

I’m a big Sennecke fan. Very impressed with him when I watched Oshawa this year to check out Ritchie (who I also like a lot).

Zether will be the fist swede taken next year unless we see some unreal progress from one of the 06 defensmen Freij/Olsson or from Sterner/Pettersson/Fernstrom

Kiviharju is laughably underrated now. He outscored Helenius as a defenseman JFYI. Yes, he seems a bit like Tavares(or Michkov) on D, where his tools would limit him, but the IQ is there definitely,

I tend to agree. He went from overrated to underrated quick

Here’s my top 32 as of now, looks to be an above average class, not this years quality by any means, but stronger than most!

I’d say also that at least 4 of these dmen would be considered the best available in this years draft. We will likely go from a draft with maybe 1-2 D in the top 15, to one with potentially 7 in the top 15.

1 Macklin Celebrini
2 Cole Eiserman
3 Ivan Demidov

4 Berkley Catton
5 Artyom Levshunov
6 Sam Dickinson
7 Cole Hutson
8 Konsta Helenius
9 Aron Kiviharju

Great list but can I make a suggestion for those of us who want to know more.

Can you post position and what team they are playing with please. It's a quick reference for us.

WHL is kinda wide open next year so will have to wait until fall to see how they progress over the offseason and see if there are any high end imports like Honzek who come over in the import draft. As of now early top 10 would go:
1-Catton
2-Ritchie
3-Yakemchuk
4-Howe
5-Basha
6-Elick
7-Caswell
8-Josephson
9-Lindstrom
10-Marques

Take this with a boulder of salt. I've seen a handful of these guys quite a few times, but there are just as many takes based a little too heavily on Twitter highlights and opinions I've read or heard from various sources around the internet. Players lumped in tiers are basically on the same level for me. You could push me in any direction on those guys. Also note that this is a personal ranking and not a mock draft.
