Thank you Elon!
Well I saw it for Canada, why the heck not, neither of us got a medal so lets look forward to 2010 if they still want pros to go which might be doubtful now even with it being in North America. The Amerks have a lot of good to great talent on their way within the next 2 years, so it wouldnt be a surprise to have a list composed of players drafted last year and ones about to get drafted this year. My team is not that young as I still see a lot of talent right now in the NHL . Here is my group of Americans and some alternates for 2010.
Forwards
Scott Gomez- has all the tools needed to be elite playmaker
Brian Gionta- little man has huge heart and talent, future 50 goal scorer
Erik Cole- the next great American powerforward
Chris Drury- has wheels and great knowledge, intern. experience a big plus
Tim Connolly- may be Americas next Modano talent wise
Mike Knuble- need a power forward like him to really compete, still young enough
Ryan Malone- once he blossoms, he will be next John Leclaire
Dustin Brown- should have been there this year, huge talent will be there in 2010
Zach Parise- has all around tools to make him a top 10 scorer by then
Adam Deadmarsh- will be back, has great skills, great power game USA needs him
Phil Kessel- need new blood, hopefully he will shine and be the next big thing
Bobby Ryan- huge frame, most say NHL ready right now
Pat Eaves- love this kid, could be elite scorer, smart all around game, future star
Paul Gaustad- taxi member-Joel Otto type will be sorely needed, great size and skill
Defense
Paul Mara- can shoot and skate with the best, likes to hit too. left off this year for?
John Liles- need a pp quarterback, plays smart learning from Blake in Col, great kid
Keith Ballard- like a rock, an enforcer reminds me of a Chelios, warrior who scores
Tim Gleason- just like Ballard has some O, but really hits and focuses on team D
Ryan Suter- the future for US hockey, has all around game just needs time to show
Jack Johnson- the real deal, better then Phaneuf, will show that next season
Chris Chelios- dont laugh, you never know!
Erik Johnson- seems to be the next big thing on D, I hope so, might find out soon
Ryan Whitney- taxi squad, could beat out Liles for offensive qb, has tools, stud
Goalies
Ryan Miller- should have been #1 this year, will be #1 in 2010 no doubt
Rick Dipietro- played very good this year, has talent to be in top 5, might get there
Al Montoya- played many a big game, might be Rangers #1 guy soon, future star
Robert Esche- taxi squad-still has tons of talent, needs to put it all together
honorable mentions
Mike York- speed, speed, speed
Brian Rolston- still could be around and playing at a high level
Keith Tkachuk- see Rolston
Doug Weight- see Rolston
Ryan Kesler- needs to score more to make this team
Chris Higgins- see Kesler
Robbie Schremp- wild card, could be top 5 scorer in NHL, or could be bust
Paul Martin- playing great in NJ, has Niedermayer traits
Bryan Berard- still can motor with the best of them, has so much O talent
Hal Gill- monster blueliner may take Hatchers place from now on
