OK. That means we can also say that the olympic hockey final in 2010 was bigger in the United States than it was in Canada. Fair enough.
That's not what he is saying. It's pretty clear that a bigger number of viewers generates more $$$ in advertising for the broadcasters. It has nothing to do with feelings. If the USA had 75 million people watching the games, trust me, every single tournament would be in the USA.

Iihf is going to change this. From 2022 games will be in Canada 4 times in 10 years. I think is good. They could try new places like Central Europe. Finlands tournament was a big success. Finland is not a sport crazy country but a success grazy country. And the mens tournament should be in North America more often, heck why not even in Asia.

Junior sports are even less interesting to them than elsewhere in Europe. Even the UEFA junior tournaments have poor attendances unless the home team does well.

Oh hey looksy here what is with piss poor attendance, I thought that year people were attacking Montreal because it is a town only for the habs and filled with fake hockey fans and french people like so many of you are wont to say

Turns out it's just the price of tickets

Insane prices are the main reason but not the only one. This tournament isn't what it used to be.

Yup the biggest reason is this tournament isn't as fun as it use to be. I have no urge to watch any of these games at all. I will probably put it on in the background.

I didn't say anything about feelings. The original claim I responded to was that "The WJC isn't big anywhere.....other than on the TSN network".

I have thought before that hockey is big here in Finland but apparently that's not true cause we're such a small country. I guess football is not big in Croatia either.

Definitely need to go back to junior towns like Saskatoon and Grand Forks. Lower the prices from non NHL prices. But really the biggest thing the IIHF could do to make money is have Canada win like 3 straight golds again. Canadian fans don't want to pay $500 to watch them lose.

I have only been watching the highlights. Does anyone else find it difficult to alot 3+ hrs to watch a sporting event? Yikes. I actually enjoy the games that are on during work hours, I can stream and listen into the game while I am working.

EDIT: Also, reason for poor attendance is that people are actually supposed to be working today and not at a hockey game.

It wouldn't be so bad in a couple of Alpine towns, smaller arenas and more enthusiastic fans would ensure a decidedly better atmosphere even if the numbers are in low thousands.
