Will the Habs make the playoffs?

Our current win rate is not sustainable. It will drop at some point.
0.800 is already dropped from their last 14 games record. ;)

Also, the Habs run is way more sustainable than people think. Maybe not 0.821 sustainable until season end, but it's going to take a major injury and/or HuGo deciding to sell every UFA at the deadline despite being in a playoff spot for a drastic change of direction.

This Habs team isn't collapsing without external help.

"Habs rebuild needs a rebuild"

"This team has no structure"

"MSL is the worst coach in the league"

You forgot "HuGo are bad"...and yes, that was a thing before we started winning.

The head to head matchups will be key. They still have games against Detroit, Philadelphia, NYR, TB, OTT and Boston. If they're still in the race, all of these games will be playoff type games. The question is will they keep up this kind of play ? They likely won't be winning like they are, but they seem to be playing sustainably at the very least.

Yeah Columbus was are toughest match up of the last 10 games or so if I’m not mistaken. Wonder how well we’d match up against them
They were surprisingly good and their first line is huge and skilled and basically completely overpowered us. Werenski’s having a career season. BJ are the best 5 on 5 team in the East maybe even in the NHL.

This whole winning streak and playoffs push has kind of revitalized the mood about the Habs on social media and in real life. Just came back from IGA and i heard at least 2 different conversations while rolling through the alleys about how the Habs are on fire and how these people started believing again. I'm seeing more and more positivity and hype on face de bouc as well.

I have no doubts that the players and managements feel this too and feed from it. Again we must still be careful in our optimism but it feels like a breath of fresh air compared to the last couple of years.

Only team that really scares me now is Columbus. We’re better than the Wings. Ottawa and Boston suck.
Columbus and Detroit are pretty much having a goal scoring streak and it's mostly coming from their power play. They haven't had a big defensive improvement like the Habs had. Both should eventually even off and go back too play closer to .500, unless they somewhat improve defensively in the 2nd half.

3 teams are really on the roll right now in the Wilcard race.
Montreal, Detroit and Colombus all won 8 games in their last 10 games.

Detroit and Columbus played 7 of their last 10 games at home.
Habs only had 2 games out of their 10 games at home

Habs played 21 games at home and 23 games on the road
Detroit played 25 games at home and 19 on the road so far this year
Columbus played 24 games at home and 21 games on the road

Big day today. Desired results:

- MTL win vs. TOR

- PHI reg. loss vs. NJD:
PHI reg. loss + MTL win = MTL moves 4 pts ahead of PHI with 2 games in hand.
- PIT reg. loss vs. WSH: PIT reg. loss + MTL win = MTL moves 4 pts ahead of PIT with 3 games in hand.
- NYI reg. loss vs. SJS: NYI reg. loss + MTL win = MTL moves 9 pts ahead of NYI.

Matches that need to end in regulation, no matter who wins:

- OTT vs. BOS: OTT reg. loss + MTL win = MTL move 2 pts ahead of OTT. BOS reg. loss + MTL win = MTL moves 1 point ahead of BOS with 2 games in hand.
- NYR vs. CBJ: NYR reg. loss + MTL win = MTL moves 5 pts ahead of NYR. CBJ reg. loss + MTL win = MTL ties CBJ at 50 pts but moves ahead due to having a game in hand.
- TBL vs. DET: TBL reg. loss + MTL win = MTL moves 1 point behind TBL for 3rd in Atlantic. TBL has a game in hand. DET reg. loss + MTL win = MTL moves 4 pts ahead of DET.

*If MTL wins, it will depend what OTT, BOS, and CBJ do, MTL could end the night in a Wild Card spot.*

PHI/NJD is @ 12:30PM ET & OTT/BOS is @ 3PM ET. So before Habs play tonight, we'll already have the results of these two games.

Lost in all this is we're only 3 points behind the Bolts and the #3 spot in our division (they have a game in hand).

We are also 7 points behind the Panthers with 2 games in hands. I don't expect us to pass them but the fact that its not completely out of question is incredible in itself.

Getting the Panthers to miss the playoffs would help the rebuild.

Laine created that monster 🤪

Rebuild?? You haven't heard that we're aiming for #25 this season? Things have rapidly changed, this group wants the cup and no less. Demidov coming in hot this season too.

Flyers beat the Devils 3-1 with a game that had a combined 32 shots

It's crazy how all these teams in that cluster are either winning or losing in OT/SO to pick up loser points. They may be playing the better teams, they still win or get loser points. It goes for other teams looking at MTL, who play FLA, TBL, VGK, COL. WSH, VAN, DAL x 2 and they're thinking it's their chance to create separation from MTL. And then they go ahead and beat those teams and one of their losses is in the SO vs. DAL, so Habs gets a point.

Watch the Bruins and Sens, who will start now, end up in OT/SO so both teams pick up pints.

I'm expecting both the Sens - Bruins and the Blue Jackets - Rangers games to go to OT for the 3 point game
