Our depth will be getting tested in the weeks to come it could have an adverse effect given how Heineman was performing on a nightly basis.
It will be interesting to see how and if we can adjust.

I was looking at our record so far this season and our pace and i think the Habs end the season with 92 pts. Last season Washington earned the WC2 spot with 91 pts.

- MTL win vs. UTA

- PIT reg. loss to SEA: PIT reg. loss + MTL win = MTL move 2 pts up on PIT with 3 games in hand.
- DET reg. loss to SJS: DET reg. loss + MTL win = MTL move 2 pts up on DET.
- NYR reg. loss to COL: NYR reg. loss + MTL win = MTL 4 pts up on NYR.

matches we really need to end in regulation, no matter who wins:
- TBL vs. BOS: BOS reg. loss + MTL win = MTL moves 1 point behind BOS with 3 games in hand. TBL reg. loss + MTL win = MTL move 3 pts behind TBL for 3rd in Atlantic. TBL with 1 game in hand.
- CBJ vs. PHI: CBJ reg. loss + MTL win = MTL tie CBJ at 46 pts, but MTL moves ahead due to having 1 game in hand. PHI reg. loss + MTL win = MTL move 3 pts up on PHI with 2 games in hand.
- OTT vs. NYI: OTT reg. loss + MTL win = MTL moves 1 point ahead of OTT. NYI reg. loss + MTL win = MTL moves 5 pts up on NYI.

*There is a way MTL can end the night in a WC spot. But it will need to be a MTL win + CBJ, DET & OTT regulation losses.*

Can't say he would have prevented this, but Cooper scratching Point against a rival that's 2 points below the standings because he missed a meeting when they aren't a lock for the playoffs is quite the decision.

The team can take advantage of the Heineman injury by giving a shot to some guys in the system who can help now, and if one can stick, then it helps with the deadline (and the standings).

I think the important thing is that we're getting good goaltending and I think the team is in such a great place mentally that this tough schedule has been battled well. I think a big home stand like the one coming, followed by a west coast trip (though idk if the fires will affect that) will keep them in good spirits.
