Have you seen the lineup of Michigan? I'd bet they'd crush any jr. Team.

Knies went from college to the Olympics and I'd vet the competition is strobger at the Olympics than the ahl. Even though he didn't play against elite nhl players, he played against former nhl'ers and men. I don't think it's a stretch at all to think he can play under 10 minutes a game.
I would say the Olympics were around AHL level this year and I'm not saying it's a hard no, I'm saying it's a Big jump.
As for OHL VS NCAA winning a game is one thing, and size and strength can win it for you, but I said skill level, so if knies was playing against men with the skill level a little more t of these kisd in Jr have, Imo it would be easier to assess if he were close to making a jump to the NHL

Everyone beefed up and we got Colin Blackwell. Yikes. I think the last person on the planet id want to go to war with is William Nylander. First round bounce might be the best thing to happen so we can get a different vision and different players

Just noticed, with Dermott gone and Sandin likely out for most of the season.

Our D is;

Rielly-Brodie
Giordano-Holl
Liljegren-Lyubushkin

That’s 2 RHD on the bottom pair.

When healthy that’s;

Rielly-Brodie
Giordano-Muzzin

Top 4 is all LHD. 2 guys are playing on the wrong side.

Liljegren-Lyubushkin-Holl

All bottom pairing is RHD. 1 guy will be playing on the wrong side.

So either 3 of our defense will be playing on the wrong side (very likely) or one of the top 4 is on the bottom pairing (possible) or in the press box (unlikely). If once of the top 4 is on the bottom pairing, that means one of Liljegren, Holl or Lyubushkin is in the top 4.

All of these aren’t good options.

I'm happy with what Dubas did. I think a lot of teams bought pieces today, without a real chance to win it all in reality.

I think Kyle looks around and knows that this just isn't are year. If we can win a round and get over that hurdle, that's probably a small victory.

Some might think that's a loser's attitude, but I just think it's realistic. This team just needs some more tinkering, whether we like it, or not.
After all this time they are only in this position is very disappointing.
What a waste.

I like the Gio/Blackwell trade, would've really liked to see a splash for a bigger 2 LW and some more 4th line grit.

All that being said I am absolutely terrified of our goaltending situation. Hoping they prove me wrong but... Yea. Yikes.

We're an injury from Hutch in the playoffs for f*** sakes....which is probably an upgrade on Mrazek.

It's probably actually

Rielly Lyubushkin
Giordano Brodie
Muzzin Liljegren
Sandin

When everyone is healthy.

It's a pretty solid D core.

Ya.. our best player in last years playoffs.... Nylander has been good in the playoffs.

Did you forget we also got Giordano? Or Lyubushkin?

We are a top 4 team in GF... we didn't need much up front, it's the goals being scored against that's the problem. We changed 1/3 or our D core.... that's a pretty substantial change.

You know your goaltending is complete shit when you'd rather see a rookie in Kallgren in net over a 300+ game veteran in Mrazek.

Teams are gonna continue to feast on our horrendous goaltending. That much is certain. People will see it wasn't all on bad defense, but much of it was on simply bad goaltending. Campbell has been just as bad as Mrazek since December 1st.

Not really stoked about the playoffs, not with this garbage goaltending.

We ask for more tenacious player depth like Blackwell. Why complaining about him now.

Forwards are pretty strong if JT and Willy can find their mojo again. We won't go far if they don't, but that's why they're paid 18m. If we crash and burn again, I expect this to be the end of the big4 experiment. I liked it the whole way, but if it doesn't work, it doesn't work.

Defense looks excellent. 8 NHL quality players assuming Muzzin comes back, with a wide range of experience, offensive and defensive capabilities, a decent bit of snarl, and lots of guys who can handle top4 minutes. Plenty of size to go around too. If Sandin or Liljegren take a step forward, or if Muzzin or Holl find their games from last year, this blueline has the potential to be great.

Goaltending is a giant question mark. Hope it works out. I don't blame Dubas for just rolling with what we've got, the odds of a rental goalie coming in and leading us to a cup is about as likely as one of our current guys doing it. Not great odds, but spending a conditional 1st for Fleury was ridiculous.

Our division is murderer's row, and the conference is just as bad. We will live and die by the big 4 this year, same as we have each of the past few. All of this hinges on them finding some resilience and buckling down. This is a darn good hockey team, but we've got to cross our fingers that they will actually play like one. I expect we're headed towards a retool this summer rather than any playoff glory, but it's the playoffs and anything can happen. We're due some good luck at some point, right? GLG.

No, it's not certain. Possible, yes... so is Campbell finding his form again, ya the form that had him in discussions for the Vezina at one point.

Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Nylander - Tavares - Blackwell
Engvall - Kampf - Mikheyev
Kerfoot - Spezza - Kase
Simmonds/Knies/Abruzzese/Anderson/Steeves/Holmberg/Robertson

Rielly - Lyubushkin
Giordano - Brodie
Muzzin - Holl
Sandin - Liljegren

Campbell - Mrazek
Kallgren/Woll

If we are healthy and goaltending holds up, we can beat anyone.

Rielly Brodie Giordano Bush Muzzin Holl Liljegren are the body types you need for the playoffs.

Really liking the D as well.

I'm even more convinced now that Dubas should be fired after just finding out that Chicago retained 50% of MAF's salary. Who is this franchise changing player in this draft available when we pick? Stupid.

I'd would mix up the lines:

Bunting - Matthews - Blackwell
Knies - Tavares - Marner
Mikheyev - Kampf - Nylander
Steeves - Kerfoot - Engvall

Gio - Brodie
Rielly - Lyub
Muzzin - Liljegren

Campbell/Kallgren

Bunting Matthews Marner
Knies Tavares Nylander
Engvall Kampf Mikheyev
Kerfoot Douglas Anderson
Spezza

Reilly Brodie
Muzzin Lube
Gio Lil

That sock that we used to hang from crossbar
Campbell

What a waste.

Is that really due to a poorly constructed roster or the fact that the Leafs All-Star game goaltender got his talent snatched Space Jam style when the calendar turned over?

They really need Muzzin back to push Holl out of the lineup.

I could answer if I knew what they bolded meant.
