I would say the Olympics were around AHL level this year and I'm not saying it's a hard no, I'm saying it's a Big jump.Have you seen the lineup of Michigan? I'd bet they'd crush any jr. Team.
Knies went from college to the Olympics and I'd vet the competition is strobger at the Olympics than the ahl. Even though he didn't play against elite nhl players, he played against former nhl'ers and men. I don't think it's a stretch at all to think he can play under 10 minutes a game.
8 points in 7 games last series for Nylander. He must be doing something rightEveryone beefed up and we got Colin Blackwell. Yikes. I think the last person on the planet id want to go to war with is William Nylander. First round bounce might be the best thing to happen so we can get a different vision and different players
After all this time they are only in this position is very disappointing.I'm happy with what Dubas did. I think a lot of teams bought pieces today, without a real chance to win it all in reality.
I think Kyle looks around and knows that this just isn't are year. If we can win a round and get over that hurdle, that's probably a small victory.
Some might think that's a loser's attitude, but I just think it's realistic. This team just needs some more tinkering, whether we like it, or not.
Just noticed, with Dermott gone and Sandin likely out for most of the season.
Our D is;
Rielly-Brodie
Giordano-Holl
Liljegren-Lyubushkin
That’s 2 RHD on the bottom pair.
When healthy that’s;
Rielly-Brodie
Giordano-Muzzin
Top 4 is all LHD. 2 guys are playing on the wrong side.
Liljegren-Lyubushkin-Holl
All bottom pairing is RHD. 1 guy will be playing on the wrong side.
So either 3 of our defense will be playing on the wrong side (very likely) or one of the top 4 is on the bottom pairing (possible) or in the press box (unlikely). If once of the top 4 is on the bottom pairing, that means one of Liljegren, Holl or Lyubushkin is in the top 4.
All of these aren’t good options.
Everyone beefed up and we got Colin Blackwell. Yikes. I think the last person on the planet id want to go to war with is William Nylander. First round bounce might be the best thing to happen so we can get a different vision and different players
You know your goaltending is complete shit when you'd rather see a rookie in Kallgren in net over a 300+ game veteran in Mrazek.We're an injury from Hutch in the playoffs for f*** sakes....which is probably an upgrade on Mrazek.
We ask for more tenacious player depth like Blackwell. Why complaining about him now.Everyone beefed up and we got Colin Blackwell. Yikes. I think the last person on the planet id want to go to war with is William Nylander. First round bounce might be the best thing to happen so we can get a different vision and different players
Teams are gonna continue to feast on our horrendous goaltending. That much is certain.
Rielly Brodie Giordano Bush Muzzin Holl Liljegren are the body types you need for the playoffs.Forwards are pretty strong if JT and Willy can find their mojo again. We won't go far if they don't, but that's why they're paid 18m. If we crash and burn again, I expect this to be the end of the big4 experiment. I liked it the whole way, but if it doesn't work, it doesn't work.
Defense looks excellent. 8 NHL quality players assuming Muzzin comes back, with a wide range of experience, offensive and defensive capabilities, a decent bit of snarl, and lots of guys who can handle top4 minutes. Plenty of size to go around too. If Sandin or Liljegren take a step forward, or if Muzzin or Holl find their games from last year, this blueline has the potential to be great.
Goaltending is a giant question mark. Hope it works out. I don't blame Dubas for just rolling with what we've got, the odds of a rental goalie coming in and leading us to a cup is about as likely as one of our current guys doing it. Not great odds, but spending a conditional 1st for Fleury was ridiculous.
Our division is murderer's row, and the conference is just as bad. We will live and die by the big 4 this year, same as we have each of the past few. All of this hinges on them finding some resilience and buckling down. This is a darn good hockey team, but we've got to cross our fingers that they will actually play like one. I expect we're headed towards a retool this summer rather than any playoff glory, but it's the playoffs and anything can happen. We're due some good luck at some point, right? GLG.
When is Knies eligible to join the Team?
Couple more weeks then. Look forward to seeing what he'll bring.I would think after Frozen Four tourny. That's finishing April 9th
After all this time they are only in this position is very disappointing.
What a waste.
I could answer if I knew what they bolded meant.Is that really due to a poorly constructed roster or the fact that the Leafs All-Star game goaltender got his talent snatched Space Jam style when the calendar turned over?
